Analysis of waveguide gratings: a comparison of the results of Rouard’s method and coupled-mode theory

Laura A. Weller-Brophy、Dennis G. Hall1987-01-01Journal of the Optical Society of America A

Recently we introduced a new computational tool for the analysis of waveguide diffraction gratings based on Rouard’s method, a recursive technique used in thin-film coating design. In this paper we compare the reflectivities predicted by Rouard’s method with those found by using the ideal mode expansion of coupled-mod…

Thermal behaviour of films of partially neutralized poly(acrylic acid). 1: Influence of metal ions

John W. Nicholson、Alan D. Wilson1987-01-01British Polymer Journal

Abstract A series of partially neutralized poly(acrylates) has been prepared, and reactions occurring on heating them at 250°C have been studied. It was found that different chemical processes occurred at this temperature, depending on the nature of the counter ion. Univalent cations gave films of excellent chemical r…

Influence of experimental inaccuracies on corrosion rates and Tafel slopes determined from electrochemical measurements in different overpotential ranges

William Skinner1987-01-01British Corrosion Journal

It is shown that electrochemical observations (over a small range of overpotentials) which may be subject to relatively small (< 1%) experimental inaccuracies can lead to results that are seriously (> 100%) in error when analysis of the results is performed using traditional analysis techniques.

Impulse Breakdown Characteristics of Coated Electrodes in SF6 Gas

Masaki Honda、H. Ōkubo、H. Aoyagi 等 4 位作者1987-01-01IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery

The authors investigated the impulse breakdown characteristics of coated high-voltage electrodes in SF6 gas with a varying nonuniform factor, electrode area, and coating material. From the viewpoint of the relation between breakdown stress and the stressed electrode area, it was clarified that with coated electrodes,…

Free radicals as clathrate hosts: crystal and molecular structure of 1: 1 perchlorotriphenylmethyl radical–benzene

Jaume Veciana、Josep Carilla、Carlos Miravitlles 等 4 位作者1987-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

The perchlorotriphenylmethyl radical (2) acts as a clathrate host for benzene, halogenobenzenes, and 1,4-dioxane giving inclusion compounds with different stabilities; the structure of (2)·C6H6, established by X-ray diffraction, shows the guest molecules located in channels between the hosts.

The crystal structure of high temperature form of kalsilite (KAlSiO4) at 950.DEG.C.

Akira Kawahara、Y. ANDOU、F. Marumo 等 4 位作者1987-01-01Mineralogical Journal

The crystal structure of kalsilite at 950°C has been determined by high temperature single crystal methods. In the process of heating, the X-ray powder pattern of kalsilite changes at 865°C, which can be ascribed to the phase transition of this mineral. According to the drastic apparition of the extinction of hhl, 1-o…

Zircaloy in boiling water reactor (BWR) systems often exhibits, besides slight uniform corrosion, a nodular type of corrosion. Highest nodular corrosion was found with materials never β-quenched during their fabrication, whereas β-quenched materials generally showed an improved behavior. Results of nodule thickness me…
