Diffraction gratings of medium and strong efficiency (≈10−25%) were first inscribed on thin films of p(DR1M- co -MMA) copolymer, with a 12% azo mole fraction, and p(DR1M) azobenzene homopolymer using interferences between two linearly polarized (p + p) coherent laser beams. Then, the gratings were wire-poled at T ≈ T…

New Interpretation of the Effect of Hydrogen on the Ion Distributions and Structure of Passive Films on Microalloyed Steel

Yimin Zeng、Jing‐Li Luo、P.R. Norton2004-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

It has been reported that hydrogen decreases the stability of the passive films on iron and stainless steel and promotes their localized corrosion. However, the mechanism of hydrogen-promoted corrosion is still not clear. Potentiostatic, electrical impedance spectroscopy measurements, and Mott-Schottky analysis were u…

Using liposomes as templates is one of the paths leading to the synthesis of silica spherical particles. In these particles, the silica wall is assembled onto the external surface of the liposome. Generally, the walls of the resulting silica spheres are porous and in the specific case of liposome templating, the exact…

Palladium chemistry in recent porphyrin research

Jun‐ichiro Setsune2004-01-01Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines

Palladium-catalyzed reactions such as Sonogashira coupling, Suzuki coupling, Stille coupling, Heck reactions, and Glaser-Hey oxidation were used to construct porphyrin modules of nano-scale molecular size in recent years. Recent developments in the supramolecular assembly of porphyrins and Pd (II) and in the organopal…

The synthesis of III–V semiconductor nanoparticles using indium and gallium diorganophosphides as single-molecular precursors

Mark Green、Paul O’Brien2004-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Novel routes to quantum dots of InP and GaP have been developed using the thermolysis of the corresponding metal diorganophosphide in hot 4-ethylpyridine, a polar, co-ordinating Lewis base. Investigations into the thermal decomposition mechanisms of M(PtBu2)3 (M = Ga, In) suggested three major processes, two of which…

Carbon Nanofiber-Copper Composites Fabricated by Electroplating

Susumu Arai、Morinobu Endo2004-01-01Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters

Carbon nanofiber-copper composites are fabricated by composite plating techniques using a plating bath containing an effective dispersing agent for carbon nanofibers. Carbon nanofibers disperse uniformly in the copper matrix, as observed by surface and cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy. By changing electrod…
