An Insight into Artificial Leaves for Sustainable Energy Inspired by Natural Photosynthesis

Han Zhou、Tongxiang Fan、Di Zhang2010-12-27ChemCatChem

Abstract The development of green sustainable energy to control our carbon‐based energy “addiction” and to reduce atmospheric CO 2 emissions is one of the most urgent issues regarding the continued existence of man on planet earth. Among renewable energy resources, solar energy is by far the largest exploitable resour…

Microwave Surface Impedance Measurements of LiFeAs Single Crystals

Yoshinori Imai、Hideyuki Takahashi、Kentaro Kitagawa 等 9 位作者2010-12-27Journal of the Physical Society of Japan

We report results of microwave surface impedance measurements of LiFeAs single crystals. The in-plane penetration depth depends on temperature exponentially at low temperatures, which strongly suggests that this material has the nodeless superconducting gap. The temperature dependence of the superfluid density indicat…

Two novel dysprosium(III) clusters have been prepared and structurally characterized. One has a tetranuclear core with a rare zigzag arrangement, and the other is an unprecedented octanuclear cluster with six triangular Dy(3) units sharing vertices. Both dysprosium(III) clusters possess frequency-dependent on alternat…

Thermal conductivity of GaAs nanowires studied by micro-Raman spectroscopy combined with laser heating

Martin Christoph Soini、Ilaria Zardo、Emanuele Uccelli 等 7 位作者2010-12-27Applied Physics Letters

The thermal properties of freely suspended GaAs nanowires are investigated by applying a method which relies on laser heating and the determination of the local temperature by Raman spectroscopy. In order to determine the values for the thermal conductivity κ, the fraction of the laser power absorbed inside the GaAs n…

Sticky fingers: The emission intensity of modified pyrimidines containing an aryl moiety, linked by a single bond to the nucleobase in the 5-position, show a remarkable sensitivity to sample viscosity (see picture), a trait typical for chromophores bearing a molecular rotor element.

On the Sensing Mechanism in Carbon Nanotube Chemiresistors

Amin Salehi‐Khojin、Fatemeh Khalili‐Araghi、Marcelo A. Kuroda 等 6 位作者2010-12-27ACS Nano

There has been recent controversy whether the response seen in carbon nanotube (CNT) chemiresistors is associated with a change in the resistance of the individual nanotubes or changes in the resistance of the junctions. In this study, we carry out a network analysis to understand the relative contributions of the nan…

Fine tuning epitaxial strain in ferroelectrics: PbxSr1−xTiO3 on DyScO3

Gijsbert Rispens、J. A. Heuver、Beatriz Noheda2010-12-27Applied Physics Letters

Epitaxial strain can be efficiently used to modify the properties of ferroelectric thin films. From the experimental viewpoint, the challenge is to fine-tune the magnitude of the strain. We illustrate here how, by using a suitable combination of composition and substrate, the magnitude of the epitaxial strain can be c…

Current-driven magnetic domain wall motion is demonstrated in the quaternary ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)(As,P) at temperatures well below the ferromagnetic transition temperature, with critical currents of the order 105 A cm−2. This is enabled by a much weaker domain wall pinning compared to (Ga,Mn)As layers g…

Artem R. Oganov、Jiuhua Chen、Carlo Gatti 等 10 位作者2010-12-27arXiv

The comment of Dubrovinskaia et al. is scientifically flawed. The high-pressure form of boron, discovered by Oganov et al., is indeed new and its bonding has a significant ionic character, as demonstrated in Ref. 1.
