Manipulation of pure spin current in ferromagnetic metals independent of magnetization

Tian Dai、Yufan Li、Danru Qu 等 6 位作者2016-07-05Physical review. B./Physical review. B

Upon the injection of a pure spin current, a ferromagnet, similar to a nonmagnetic metal, also exhibits inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE). We show in Co/Cu/YIG, where the thin Cu layer allows transmission of spin current from YIG into Co but decouples the two ferromagnets, that the interaction between ISHE and ferromagn…

Anowarul Islam、Mousa Younesi、Thomas Mbimba 等 4 位作者2016-07-05Advanced Healthcare Materials

Rigidity of substrates plays an important role in stem cell fate. Studies are commonly carried out on isotropically stiff substrate or substrates with unidirectional stiffness gradients. However, many native tissues are anisotropically stiff and it is unknown whether controlled presentation of stiff and compliant mate…

Zero-phonon line and fine structure of the yellow luminescence band in GaN

M. A. Reshchikov、J. D. McNamara、Fan Zhang 等 8 位作者2016-07-05Physical review. B./Physical review. B

The yellow luminescence band was studied in undoped and Si-doped GaN samples by steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence. At low temperature (18 K), the zero-phonon line (ZPL) for the yellow band is observed at 2.57 eV and attributed to electron transitions from a shallow donor to a deep-level defect. At highe…

Five-dimensional generalization of the topological Weyl semimetal

Biao Lian、Shou-Cheng Zhang2016-07-05Physical review. B./Physical review. B

We generalize the concept of three-dimensional topological Weyl semimetals to a class of five dimensional (5D) gapless solids, where Weyl points are generalized to Weyl surfaces which are two-dimensional closed manifolds in the momentum space. Each Weyl surface is characterized by a $U(1)$ second Chern number ${C}_{2}…
