K. Dörr、T. Walter、M. Sahana 等 7 位作者2001-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

The thickness dependence of electrical transport and magnetization of ultrathin La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 films has been investigated using epitaxial La0.7Sr0.3MnO3(LSMO)/SrTiO3 multilayers prepared by pulsed laser deposition. Layer thicknesses range from 1.9 to 10 nm for both constituents. Microstructural characterization by x-…

Calculation of mean distances between the randomly distributed particles in the model of points and hard spheres (the method of Voronoi polyhedra)

Н. Л. Лаврик、V. P. Voloshin2001-06-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

The method of Voronoi polyhedra is used to introduce the concept of nth neighbor. For hard spheres a theoretical dependence of the mean distance between the nth neighbors on the coefficient of filling was obtained. A simple formula was obtained to estimate the mean distance between the nth neighbors.

Coadsorption of CO and NO on the Pd(111) Surface: Combined Ab Initio and Monte Carlo Study

Karoliina Honkala、Päivi Pirilä、Kari Laasonen2001-06-01Physical Review Letters

Adsorption and coadsorption of nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO) on the Pd(111) surface are studied by combining first principles (FP) calculations and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. From FP adsorption energies and molecule-molecule interactions we construct an interaction model, which is used in MC. We do sev…

Blends of polyvinylalcohol with collagen hydrolysate: thermal degradation and processing properties

Pavol Alexy、Dušan Bakoš、Gabriela Crkoňová 等 5 位作者2001-06-01Macromolecular Symposia

The blends of polyvinylalcohol with collagen hydrolysate were studied from the point of view of the effect of collagen hydrolysate on thermal degradation and processing properties. Elimination of deliberated acetic acid in reaction with NH2 groups of CH can protect PVA against acidic catalysis of degradation. Using ta…

E. Pentia、L. Pintilie、Ion Matei 等 5 位作者2001-06-01Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC)

PbS nanocrystalline thin films were prepared by Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD) technique. A comparative study between "standard" and "nanocrystalline" PbS thin films was performed. We denoted "standard" the PbS film with a good photosensitivity for to use as IR detector. This film was deposited after 1 hour from chemi…

Effect of grain size on magnetoresistance in Ba2FeMoO6

Hui Han、B. J. Han、Jiyu Park 等 6 位作者2001-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

Effect of grain size on magnetoresistance (MR) and electrical and magnetic properties of double perovskite Ba2FeMoO6 (BFMO) have been investigated. BFMO samples with different grain size have been prepared by the conventional solid state reaction followed by sintering in a stream of 5% H2/Ar at 1100 °C with various si…

Electron channelling contrast imaging characterization of dislocation structures associated with extrusion and intrusion systems and fatigue cracks in copper single crystals

Addad Ahmed2001-06-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

The fatigue of copper single crystals, oriented for single slip, was studied using electron channelling contrast imaging (ECCI) in a scanning electron microscope. This technique allows the detection and characterization of dislocation structures in bulk specimens. This paper presents ECCI images showing dislocation ar…

An experimental alteration of montmorillonite to a di + trioctahedral smectite assemblage at 100 and 200°C

Daniel Beaufort、Gilles Berger、J. C. Lacharpagne 等 4 位作者2001-06-01Clay Minerals

Abstract Hydrothermal experiments were performed at 100 and 200°C and at different clay:water ratios in order to investigate the transformation of smectitic layers during the alteration of a montmorillonitic starting material. This study focused on three phenomena: (1) the amount and localization of charge within the…

Gas absorption with filled polymer systems

Lee Chen、Himanshu Sheth、Roland Kim2001-06-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract This paper deals with the gas absorption behavior of polymer systems. The emphasis is on the difference between filled and unfilled polymers to explain heterogeneous nucleation in filled polymers. A Foaming Process Simulator has been built to study the gas absorption. It consists of a test chamber that holds…

Abstract A kaolinite–nylon 6 intercalation compound was prepared by the polymerization of 6-aminohexanoic acid (AHA) in the interlayer space of kaolinite. The intercalation of AHA was achieved by a guest displacement reaction using a kaolinite–methanol intercalation compound as an intermediate. After AHA dissolved in…

Effect of UV irradiation on type I collagen fibril formation in neutral collagen solutions

Julian M. Menter、Abrienne M. Patta、Robert M. Sayre 等 5 位作者2001-06-01Photodermatology Photoimmunology & Photomedicine

BACKGROUND: Collagens have the well-known ability to spontaneously self-associate to form fibrils at physiological temperature and neutral pH in vitro and in vivo. Because solar UV may photochemically alter collagen, the kinetics of fibril formation may be modified. Thus, we have begun a systematic study of the effect…
