Micro‐Raman spectra of crystalline uridine at high pressures

Yining Huang、Ian S. Butler1990-06-01Journal of Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract Micro‐Raman spectra of crystalline uridine were obtained at room temperature and at pressures approaching 40 kbar with the aid of a diamond‐anvil cell. There is evidence for a phase transition at about 12 kbar which is probably associated with changes in the hydrogen‐bonding interactions between the two molec…

Determining Factors That Affect Fabric Shear Behavior with the Twist Method

V. Subramaniam、M. Sivakumar、V. Srinivasan 等 4 位作者1990-06-01Textile Research Journal

This paper discusses the effect of applied tension, specimen size, fabric sett, and shear strain on the shear behavior of fabrics using the twist method of measurement. Shear behavior depends critically on applied tension, specimen size, and fabric sett. The specimen size does not seem to affect the coercive shear str…

Enhanced oxidation of aluminum; effects of thin cerium overlayers

S. Raaen、N.A. Braaten、J. K. Grepstad 等 4 位作者1990-06-01Physica Scripta

Thin cerium overlayers, 3-10 Å, on aluminum are found to enhance dramatically the oxidation of the substrate at room temperature. Two logarithmic oxidation regimes are observed in the growth curve, one is assigned to the formation of a thin layer of a mixed Ce-Al oxide, and the other to the growth of bulk Al oxide.

Raman spectroscopy of ${\mathrm{Li}}_{2}$${\mathrm{SO}}_{4}$ was performed for pressures in the range 1 bar to 80 kbar. The crystal remains in the original \ensuremath{\beta} phase if the pressure is kept below 13 kbar. At this pressure the spectrum undergoes qualitative changes in a continuous way as a function of ti…

Electrical Instability in CuO1-x: Possible Correlations with the CuO-based High Temperature Superconductors

C. B. Azzoni、G. B. Parravicini、G. Samoggia 等 4 位作者1990-06-01Zeitschrift für Naturforschung A

Physical properties of stoichiometric and non stoichiometric CuO are reported. The electrical conductivity has been measured on CuO pellets, sintered with the usual procedure for the preparation of Y Ba-Cu O superconductors and then deoxygenated under a nitrogen flow. It is shown that oxygen deficient CuO pellets pres…

Toughening of Nylon 6 by Modified Polyethylenes

Rudolph D. Deanin、Stephen A. Orroth、Rahul I. Bhagat1990-06-01Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering

Impact strength of nylon 6 was more than tripled by incorporation of 10% low-density polyethylene, ethylene/acrylic acid copolymers, or chlorinated polyethylenes. Chlorinated polyethylenes containing 36-42% of chlorine generally gave best retention of tensile and flexural modulus and strength characteristics.

Improved charge stability in polymer electrets quenched before charging

Zhiping Xia1990-06-01IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation

The influence of heat treatment (heating followed by quenching prior to charging) on charge storage in fluoroethylenepropylene (FEP) and polypropylene (PP) foils is studied by a corona discharge or by a mono-energetic electron beam. The variables which affect the charge decay time and the TSD (thermally stimulated dis…

Abstract The XPS (x–ray photoelectron spectroscopy) O1s spectrum of PET [poly(ethylene terephthalate)] was examined in detail. Spectra of related compounds were also studied for comparison. The O1s peak profile of asymmetric doublet with π–π * satellites characteristic of PET was successfully explained both from compa…

Analysis of tilt in the high-strain-rate pressure-shear plate impact experiment

Richard W. Klopp、R. J. Clifton1990-06-01Journal of Applied Physics

An analysis is presented of the effect of tilt in the high-strain-rate pressure-shear plate impact experiment. Normal and shear tractions and the velocity difference across the specimen are obtained from free-surface particle velocity, tilt angle, closure direction, and impact velocity data. The effect of tilt in high…
