Synthesis of highly-transparent Al-doped ZnO porous network thin films

Tao Wang、Yanmei Liu、Guang Li 等 7 位作者2011-01-01CrystEngComm

Highly-transparent Al-doped ZnO (ZAO) porous network thin films are prepared via solvothermal method for the first time. It is found that the morphology of the nanostructures evolved from nanosheets to porous network structures because of the different annealing temperature. The incorporation of Al and the contents of…

Polar Anisotropy and Inter-Ferroelectric Transitions in Barium Titanate and its Solid Solutions

A. A. Heitmann、George A. Rossetti2011-01-01Integrated ferroelectrics

A particular form of the Ginzburg-Landau-Devonshire theory of weak first-order transitions is applied to barium titanate and its solid solutions. The theory places emphasis on the crystallographic anisotropy of polarization and its relation to the inter-ferroelectric transitions between proper symmetry phases. It is s…

Matthieu Loumaigne、Priya Vasanthakumar、Alain Richard 等 4 位作者2011-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

The Brownian rotation of a nearly spherical gold particle capped with ligands can be observed in the correlation profile of the intensity of the two-photon excited luminescence. Here we report on a multi-parameter study of the luminescence properties, including spectral and polarization analysis of the signal at the s…

Modelling and Simulation of Reactor Fuel Cladding under Loss-of-Coolant Accident Conditions

Tero Manngård、A.R. Massih2011-01-01Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology

We present a unified model for calculation of zirconium alloy fuel cladding rupture during a postulated loss-of-coolant accident in light water reactors. The model treats the Zr alloy solid-to-solid phase transformation kinetics, cladding creep deformation, oxidation, and rupture as functions of temperature and time i…

Studies of Calamitic Liquid Crystalline Compounds Involving Ester-Azo Central Linkages with a Biphenyl Moiety

B. T. Thaker、Y. T. Dhimmar、B. S. Patel 等 7 位作者2011-01-01Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals

Two mesogenic homologous series involving ester-azo central linkages with a biphenyl moiety have been synthesized, such as 4′-[(4-n-alkoxyphenyl)diazenyl]biphenyl-4-ol (series I) and 4′-[(4-n-alkoxyphenyl) diazenyl]-4-butoxy phenyl biphenyl-4-carboxylate (series II). Azobiphenyl of series I having a free hydroxyl grou…

Stability of Pt(ii)-based H2-evolving catalysts against H2 in aqueous solution

Kosei Yamauchi、Shigeyuki Masaoka、Ken Sakai2011-01-01Dalton Transactions

To answer the question of whether Pt(II)-based H(2)-evolving catalysts are stable upon exposure to H(2), the behaviours of some platinum(II) complexes in the presence of H(2) (5 × 10(-4) - 1 atm) have been followed spectrophotometrically. The results reveal that some catalysts are highly stable upon exposure to H(2).

Accelerated electron beam induced breakdown of commercial WO3 into nanorods in the presence of triethylamine

Graham Dawson、Wuzong Zhou、Ross A. Blackley2011-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

Tungsten oxide nanorods were prepared from commercial crystalline WO(3) particles treated with triethylamine under electron beam irradiation in an electron microscope operating at 200 kV. The amine acts as a molecular knife, cleaving the particles under beam irradiation.

Fatigue Failure and Thermal Spalling Tests to Evaluate Dynamic Fatigue Fracture of MgO–C Bricks

Yuta Hino、Yoshisato Kiyota2011-01-01ISIJ International

The relationship between compressive stress and loading cycles in MgO–C bricks with various carbon contents was investigated at room temperature and high temperature. The relationship between fatigue failure and thermal spalling was investigated by estimating a characteristic material constant, which represents the de…

Kazuki Tajima、Hiromi Hotta、Yasusei Yamada 等 5 位作者2011-01-01Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan

We investigated the fabrication conditions of a solid electrolyte Ta2O5 thin film suitable for an electrochromic (EC) all-solid-state switchable mirror glass to reduce material and processing costs. The film was deposited by reactive dc magnetron sputtering in a mixture gas of argon and oxygen. The electrochemical pro…

Synthesis and characterization of hierarchically structured aluminosilicates

Sikander H. Hakim、Brent H. Shanks2011-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry

Catalytically active aluminosilicate materials with hierarchical porous structures are produced. A spontaneous self-assembly in aqueous solution starting from component alkoxides resulted in patterned powders without the aid of any templating agent. SEM and N2 adsorption–desorption studies demonstrated regular array o…

Using the first-principles calculations, we investigate the electronic band structure and the quantum transport properties of metallic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs) with B/N pair co-doping. The results about formation energy show that the B/N pair co-doping configuration is a most stable structure. We find that the electro…

Effects of Hydrogen on SCC Growth Rate of NI Alloys in BWR Water

Peter L. Andresen、Peter Chou2011-01-01OpenAlex

In boiling water reactors (BWRs), stress corrosion cracking (SCC) has occurred in Alloy 600 and Alloy 182, 132 and 82 weld metals. Most BWRs mitigated SCC by injecting H 2 into the feed water, although the levels vary by ~8X depending on whether they use electrocatalysis and low H2, or only moderate H 2 . Under modera…
