Reinforced Self‐Assembly of Hexa‐peri‐hexabenzocoronenes by Hydrogen Bonds: From Microscopic Aggregates to Macroscopic Fluorescent Organogels

Xi Dou、Wojciech Pisula、Jishan Wu 等 5 位作者2007-10-08Chemistry - A European Journal

Hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene derivatives (HBCs) that have hydrogen-bonding functionalities (either amido or ureido groups) adjacent to the aromatic cores have been synthesized to study the effects of intracolumnar hydrogen bonds on the self-assembly behavior of HBCs. The hydrogen bonds effectively increased the aggrega…

Mohammad Naraghi、Ioannis Chasiotis、H. Kahn 等 5 位作者2007-10-08Applied Physics Letters

The mechanical deformation of 12μm long electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers with diameters of 300–600nm was investigated. The nanofibers were subjected to cold drawing in atmospheric conditions and at strain rates between 10−2 and 10−4s−1. The ultimate strain of the PAN nanofibers was 60%–130% varying monot…

Abstract A facile one‐step method has been developed to prepare both superhydrophobic and superoleophilic surfaces of polystyrene (PS) without any chemical modification. A rough film consisting of micro‐bead and nano‐fiber mixed structures is formed by spraying a PS solution onto a large area and any type of substrate…

Gigahertz frequency flexible carbon nanotube transistors

N. Chimot、Vincent Derycke、M. F. Goffman 等 6 位作者2007-10-08Applied Physics Letters

We investigate the high frequency performances of flexible field-effect transistors based on carbon nanotubes. A large density of mostly aligned carbon nanotubes deposited on a flexible substrate by dielectrophoresis serves as the channel. The transistors display a constant transconductance up to at least 6GHz and a c…

Effects of Nanoscale Confinement and Interfaces on the Glass Transition Temperatures of a Series of Poly(n-methacrylate) Films

Rodney D. Priestley、Manish K. Mundra、Nina J. Barnett 等 5 位作者2007-10-08Australian Journal of Chemistry

We use fluorescence from dye-labelled polymer to measure the glass transition temperatures (Tgs) across single-layer films and near surfaces and silica interfaces in bilayer films for a series of poly(n-methacrylate)s. With nanoscale confinement, the average Tg across a film supported on silica increases for poly(meth…

Spin field effect transistor with a graphene channel

Yu. G. Semenov、K. W. Kim、J. M. Zavada2007-10-08Applied Physics Letters

A spin field effect transistor (FET) is proposed by utilizing a graphene layer as the channel. Similar to the conventional spin FETs, the device involves spin injection and spin detection by ferromagnetic source and drain. Due to the negligible spin-orbit coupling in the carbon based materials, spin manipulation in th…

Structural distortions and model Hamiltonian parameters: From LSDA to a tight-binding description ofLaMnO3

Claude Ederer、Chungwei Lin、Andrew J. Millis2007-10-08Physical Review B

The physics of manganites is often described within an effective two-band tight-binding (TB) model for the Mn ${e}_{g}$ electrons, which apart from the kinetic energy includes also a local ``Hund's rule'' coupling to the ${t}_{2g}$ core spin and a local coupling to the Jahn-Teller (JT) distortion of the oxygen octahed…
