Barium Titanate Ceramics with High Piezoelectricity Fabricated from Fibrous Particles

Yoshinobu Ohara、Kunihito Koumoto、Hiroaki Yanagida1985-04-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Barium titanate ceramics with high degrees of c‐axis orientation were fabricated from fibrous particles. The maximum piezoelectric constant, d 33 , obtained was ≅270 pC/N, which is much higher than values reported previously.

A dynamic study of CO oxidation on supported platinum

Yoav Barshad、Erdoḡan Gülari1985-04-01AIChE Journal

Abstract Catalytic oxidation of CO on alumina‐supported platinum was studied in a tubular isothermal reactor with applied concentration transients. A completely automated reactor system capable of switching frequencies as high as 0.2 Hz was constructed. Concentration cycling resulted in reaction rates that were much h…

Pressure effect on the coupling between rotational and translational motions of supercooled viscous fluids

I. Artaki、J. Jonás̆1985-04-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

Spin-lattice relaxation times, viscosities, and densities have been measured as a function of temperature and pressure for several supercooled viscous fluids in order to investigate the adequacy of the modified Debye equation to describe the microscopic behavior of these systems. By supercooling the range of experimen…

Dissolution rate measurements of sparingly soluble compounds with the Coulter Counter model TAII

Christer Nyström、Jan Mazur、M.I. Barnett 等 4 位作者1985-04-01Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology

A Coulter Counter, Model TAII was used to determine both solubility and dissolution rate from suspensions of griseofulvin and hydrocortisone acetate, where the initial particle size and shape had been characterized. The method assesses the weights and surface areas of particles remaining undissolved as a function of t…

Influence of the molecular structure on the melt strength and extensibility of polyethylenes

Francesco Paolo La Mantia、Domenico Acierno1985-04-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract Melt strength (MS) and breaking stretching ratio (BSR) data relative to polyethylenes with different molecular structure (high density (HDPE), low density (LDPE), and linear low density (LLDPE)) are shown. HDPE and LLDPE samples show high breaking stretching ratio and low melt strength values. The LDPE sample…

Phase Equilibria and Ionic Conductivity in the System ZrO 2 −Yb 2 O 3 −Y 2 O 3

Gregory S. Corman、V. S. STUBIČAN1985-04-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The phase equilibria in the zirconia‐rich part of the system ZrO 2 −Yb 2 O 3 −Y 2 O 3 were determined at 1200°, 1400°, and 1650°C. The stabilizing effects of Yb 2 O 3 and Y 2 O 3 were found to be quite similar with <10 mol% of either being necessary to fully stabilize the cubic fluorite‐structure phase at 1200°C. T…

A linear chain with alternating ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic exchange: Cu(hfac)2.cntdot.TEMPOL

Cristiano Benelli、Dante Gatteschi、D. W. Carnegie 等 4 位作者1985-04-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

The paper reports the low temperature behavior of a linear chain formed by Copper ion and organic radicals. The analysis of magnetic data down to 0.08 K allows to determine the nature and intensity of the exchange interactions between the Cu ion and the Tempol radical and the intra chain antiferromagnetic interaction.

Atomic structure of (001) twist boundaries in f.c.c metals Structural unit model

Daniel Schwartz、V. Vítek、Adrian P. Sutton1985-04-01Philosophical magazine. A/Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties

The applicability of the structural unit model, developed for tilt boundaries by Sutton and Vitek (1983), to (001) twist boundaries in f.c.c. metals is investigated. The model is found to be useful in discussing the continuity of boundary structure with misorientation and the Burgers vectors of screw grain boundary di…

Reentrant melting of krypton adsorbed on graphite and the helical Potts-lattice-gas model

Robert G. Caflisch、A. Nihat Berker、Mehran Kardar1985-04-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

A model is constructed which explicitly includes the microscopic phenomena occurring in krypton adsorbed on basal graphite from submonolayer to dense-layer regimes. Second-layer adsorption is also included. The experimentally observed reentrant phase diagram, in the pressure and temperature variables, is reproduced. T…

Electrical behaviour of chemically modified amorphous Se studied by xerographic depletion discharge

M. Abkowtz、Frank Jansen、Andrew R. Melnyk1985-04-01Philosophical Magazine B

The extent to which the photoelectronic properties of amorphous chalcogenides can be influenced by specific chemical dopants is a key issue in the study of this technologically important class of semiconductors. The elemental nature and ambipolarity of a-Se make it a particularly attractive candidate for study. The ef…
