Effect of dihydrogen phosphate of ε‐aminocaproic acid on isoprene rubber compounds

T. Vladkova2004-05-10Polymer International

Abstract The multifunctional effect of the dihydrogen phosphate of ε‐aminocaproic acid (DHPh ε‐ACA) on isoprene rubber compounds is presented in this paper. DHPh ε‐ACA is the product of interaction of polymeric, oligomeric or monomeric ε‐aminocaprolactam and phosphoric acid, with an excess of the acid. This interactio…

Melting of atomic solids: effect of range and softness of interaction potentials

Somendra Nath Chakraborty、Nilanjan Ghosh、P Shah 等 4 位作者2004-05-10Molecular Physics

The relationship between the behaviour at melting and the range and softness of interatomic potentials is explored using Monte Carlo simulations of bulk Morse and Lennard-Jones systems. The range parameter of the Morse interaction is tuned to mimic the variation seen in atomic systems, from metallic systems with soft,…

Crystallization and melting behaviour of polypropylene/barium sulfate composites

Ke Wang、Jingshen Wu、Hanmin Zeng2004-05-10Polymer International

Abstract The effects of polypropylene (PP)–barium sulfate (BaSO 4 ) interfacial interaction on the crystallization and melting behaviour of PP/BaSO 4 composites were investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry. The results show that BaSO 4 can act as nucleating agent and the nucleation activity increase…

Space‐charge limited conduction in polyaniline films

K. Prem Nazeer、Sheeba Anu Jacob、M. Thamilselvan 等 6 位作者2004-05-10Polymer International

Abstract Polyaniline emeraldine base (PANI‐EB) powder was synthesized by oxidative polymerization of aniline. The PANI‐EB films were prepared by the solution‐casting technique. The temperature‐dependent dc conductivity measured in the range 173–303 K suggests that the PANI‐EB is a quasi‐one‐dimensional disordered cond…

A Novel Electrochemical Method for Preparation of Thin Films of Layered Manganese Oxides

Masaharu Nakayama、Sayaka Konishi、Akihiro Tanaka 等 4 位作者2004-05-10Chemistry Letters

Abstract Thin films of layered manganese oxides with alkylammonium and alkali-metal ions in the interlayer were formed on a platinum electrode by a one-step electrochemical route. The interlayer distance was determined by the size of the electrolyte cations used.

Omar A Mkhatresh、Frank Heatley2004-05-10Polymer International

Abstract The products and mechanism of the thermal oxidative degradation at 180 °C and the photo‐oxidative degradation at 40 °C of polytetrahydrofuran have been investigated using 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and GPC. The NMR analysis was assisted by the use of DEPT 13 C spectra, two‐dimensional NMR spectroscopy (COSY, HMQC and…

RICE HUSK ASH FILLED NATURAL RUBBER COMPOUNDS – THE USE OF RHEOMETRIC DATA TO QUALITATIVELY ESTIMATE OPTIMUM FILLER LOADING

Helson M. da Costa、Leila L. Y. Visconte、Regina C. R. Nunes 等 4 位作者2004-05-10International Journal of Polymeric Materials

White rice husk ash (WRHA) and black rice husk ash (BRHA) were incorporated as filler in natural rubber (NR) compounds. A conventional vulcanization system (CV) was chosen and cure studies were carried out on a TI-100 Curometer at 150, 160, 170 and 180°C. From the rheometric data obtained at 150°C, a specific constant…

Aspects of selective and pitting corrosion in cast duplex stainless steels

S.R.F. Batista、S.E. Kuri2004-05-10Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials

Duplex stainless steels are excellent materials for industrial applications and their use has increased in the oil, chemical, petroleum (offshore), and electric power industries. Pitting resistance equivalent (PRE) is the first parameter used to characterise the pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. Nevertheless,…

A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS ON THE FERMI LEVEL IN MULTIWALLED CARBON NANOTUBES

M. Grado-Caffaro、M. Grado-Caffaro2004-05-10Modern Physics Letters B

The Fermi level for a multiwalled carbon nanotube is determined analytically by using the Fermi velocity obtained from the particle-in-a-box model. Fermi energy is found to be quantized so that the corresponding quantum number coincides with the wall number. In addition, the classical limit is discussed.

Monte Carlo simulation of the self-assembly and phase behavior of semiflexible equilibrium polymers

Xinjiang Lü、James T. Kindt2004-05-10The Journal of Chemical Physics

Grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations of a simple model semiflexible equilibrium polymer system, consisting of hard sphere monomers reversibly self-assembling into chains of arbitrary length, have been performed using a novel sampling method to add or remove multiple monomers during a single MC move. Systems with tw…

Monte Carlo simulation of dendrimers in variable solvent quality

G. Giupponi、D. Martin A. Buzza2004-05-10The Journal of Chemical Physics

We study via lattice Monte Carlo simulation and Flory theory the properties of g=1-6 dendrimers in variable solvent quality. For all the generations studied, we find that the radius of gyration R(g) collapses significantly (factor of 2) going from athermal to extreme poor solvent conditions, indicating that varying so…

The role of attractive interactions in rod–sphere mixtures

Dmytro Antypov、Douglas J. Cleaver2004-05-10The Journal of Chemical Physics

We present a computer simulation study of binary mixtures of prolate Gay-Berne particles and Lennard-Jones spheres. Results are presented for three such rod-sphere systems which differ from each other only in the interaction between unlike particles. Both the mixing-demixing behavior and the transitions between the is…

Abstract In order to modify poly [(3‐hydroxybutyrate)‐ co ‐(3‐hydroxyvalerate)] (PHBV), the crosslinking of this copolymer was carried out at 160 °C using dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as the initiator. The torque of the PHBV melt showed an abrupt upturn when DCP was added. Appropriate values for the gel fraction and crossli…
