Unique gold sponges: biopolymer-assisted hydrothermal synthesis and potential application as surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrates

Shuyan Gao、Hongjie Zhang、Xiaomei Wang 等 8 位作者2005-09-13Nanotechnology

In this paper we describe a biopolymer-assisted hydrothermal approach to the synthesis of gold sponges. This is carried out by transferring a hyaluronic acid potassium salt/HAuCl4 aqueous solution into a stainless steel autoclave with a Teflon liner and heating in an oven at 180 °C for 6 h. Here, hyaluronic acid potas…

Surface dynamics of a thin polystyrene film probed by low-energy muons

F. L. Pratt、T. Lancaster、M. L. Brooks 等 13 位作者2005-09-13Physical Review B

Low-energy muons have been used to probe the local motion in a thin-film sample of polystyrene as a function of depth below the free surface. The muon spin relaxation in zero magnetic field is dominated by a muoniated radical state which is formed on the polystyrene ring. The muon spin-relaxation rate $\ensuremath{\la…

Abstract The processability of a metallocene‐catalyzed polyethylene blended in the melt with low amounts of ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene was evaluated. Our morphological and thermal studies revealed that the blends were structurally heterogeneous, formed by a matrix of metallocene polyethylene and homogene…

Formal derivation of dissipative particle dynamics from first principles

David Cubero、Sophia N. Yaliraki2005-09-13Physical Review E

We show that the Markovian approximation assumed in current particle-based coarse-grained techniques, like dissipative particle dynamics, is unreliable in situations in which sound plays an important role. As an example we solve analytically and numerically the dynamics of coarse-grained harmonic systems by using firs…

Vaporization Study of YbCl3, YbBr3, YbI2, LuCl3, LuBr3, and LuI3 and a New Assessment of Sublimation Enthalpies of Rare Earth Trichlorides

Bruno Brunetti、V. Piacente、Paolo Scardala2005-09-13Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data

The vapor pressures of YbCl 3, YbBr 3, YbI 2, LuCl 3, LuBr 3, and LuI 3 were measured by torsion and Knudsen effusion methods. Their temperature dependences may be reported as follows: YbCl 3 (s): log( p /kPa) = (11.30 ± 0.20) − (14420 ± 200)/( T /K) from (944 to 1096) K; YbBr 3 (s): log( p /kPa) = (11.51 ± 0.20) − (1…

Kinetics of Nonisothermal Polymer Crystallization

Jiao Yang、Benjamin J. McCoy、Giridhar Madras2005-09-13The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

We adopt a cluster size distribution model to investigate the kinetics of nonisothermal polymer crystallization. The time dependencies of polymer concentration, number and size of crystals, and crystallinity (in Avrami plots) are presented for different cooling rates. The incubation period is also investigated at diff…

Temperature Variation of DC Conductivity of Poly(3-alkyl Thiophenes) and Their Cocrystals

Susmita Pal、S. R. Roy、Arun K. Nandi2005-09-13The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

The dc conductivity of poly(3-alkyl thiophenes) (P3ATs) and their cocrystals are measured in the temperature range of -130 to 150 degrees C. Both solvent-cast films and the melt-cooled films are used. The former exhibit a sharp increase followed by a decrease in conductivity, whereas the latter show only a sigmoidal i…
