Hua Cui、Ming‐Juan Shi、Meng Rong 等 6 位作者2004-03-01Photochemistry and Photobiology

Abstract The effect of pH on inhibition and enhancement of luminol‐H 2 O 2 ‐CO 2+ chemiluminescence (CL) by 18 phenolic compounds and 20 amino acids was studied. It was found that most of the tested compounds showed an inhibiting effect of lower pH and an enhancing effect at higher pH. At a midrange pH, for some pheno…

Observation of Propagating Brush Discharge on Insulating Film With Grounded Antistatic Materials

Mizuki Yamaguma、Tsutomu Kodama2004-03-01IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications

A propagating brush discharge (PBD) usually occurs on a highly charged thin film with a grounded metal backing plate and often becomes energetic enough to ignite a flammable gas/vapor and even a dust cloud. In an actual situation, a PBD is seen on the surface of a large-sized flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC…

Highly-oriented ZnO films were deposited on Y2O3/Si(111) and Y2O3/Si(100) substrates by atmospheric pressure metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) using zinc acetylacetonate (Zn(C5H7O2)2) and oxygen as sources. The substrate temperature and O2 gas temperature were all kept at 500 °C. Y2O3, thermodynamically…

Foaming Poly(methyl methacrylate) with an Equilibrium Mixture of Carbon Dioxide and Isopropanol

Richard Gendron、Pierre Moulinié2004-03-01Journal of Cellular Plastics

In this study we examine the mixture carbon dioxide (CO2) and 2-propanol (PrOH) as foaming agents for poly(methyl methacrylate). Gaseous CO2 was dissolved in liquid PrOH, allowing for injection of a homogenous liquid mixture into the extruder. The advantage of such a system is that the CO2/PrOH ratio remains stable, a…

Metal Oxide / Silica and Metal / Silica Nanocomposites from Organofunctional Single‐Source Sol‐Gel Precursors

Ulrich Schubert2004-03-01Advanced Engineering Materials

Abstract Single‐source precursors of the type (RO) 3 Si‐X‐M, where X represents a tethering organic group and M a metal‐containing unit (metal ion or metal alkoxide group), allow the preparation of MO x /SiO 2 or M/SiO 2 nanocomposites with a controllable nanoparticle size. After sol‐gel processing, the organic groups…

Alkaline dissolution monitoring of sea–island type polyester microfibre fabrics by a cationic dye staining method

Joonseok Koh2004-03-01Coloration Technology

The alkaline dissolution behaviour of sea–island type polyester microfibres were successfully monitored using a cationic dye staining method. Weight reduction behaviour of the alkali‐treated microfibre fabrics and the treated fabrics stained with cationic dye were investigated in a comparative manner. The termination…

Effect of Physical Foaming Agents on the Viscosity of Various Polyolefin Resins

Richard Gendron、Michel Champagne2004-03-01Journal of Cellular Plastics

The effect of temperature and type of physical foaming agent (HCFC-142b, n-pentane, and carbon dioxide) on the shear viscosity have been investigated for various types of polyolefin resins (PP, LLDPE, and HDPE). The viscosity changes have been monitored using a commercial on-line process control rheometer mounted on a…

The recently proposed split ring resonator (SRR) loaded waveguide as a simulator of a left-handed medium (LHM) is extended to the simulation of negative magnetic permeability media (NMPM) and used for the study of wave propagation in these media. The experimental results are compared with those provided by the discret…

A kinetic study including dissolution process and diffusion of the dissolved molecules for a stressed solid in contact with its solution is analyzed. We estimate a condition fixing the prevailing dissipation mechanism and analyze it with a linear stability criterion. This criterion depends on which process is limiting…

Numerical Modeling of Thermobonded Nonwovens

Dieter H. Mueller、Markus Kochmann2004-03-01International Nonwovens Journal

In thermobonded nonwovens, the design of the bond point geometry is of major importance to the desired mechanical behavior. Despite the geometry's significance the selection is subject to a trial and error approach. This paper describes a numerical method for the prediction of the nonwovens tensile behavior depending…

Jean-Christophe Géminard、Andrzej Żywociński、F. Caillier 等 4 位作者2004-03-01Philosophical Magazine Letters

We measured the angles produced in the Plateau border region of ‘dry’ soap films. In a simple experimental geometry, we demonstrated that a negative line tension can be attributed to these regions. This result has important consequences for the theoretical description of foams approaching the dry limit.
