Evaluation of Bearing Steels Produced by Powder Metallurgy Process

Kazuichi Tsubota1993-01-01OpenAlex

A variety of steel powders for bearing applications, such as high-speed tool steel, M50 and 440C steels, etc., prepared through vacuum induction melting (VIM) and inert gas atomizer were canned and consolidated by hot extrusion to bars for specimens used in this experiment. The carbide sizes of the extruded materials…

X-ray study of the electron density in calcite, CaCO3

Maslen, E.N.、Victor A. Streltsov、N.R. Streltsova1993-01-01UWA Profiles and Research Repository (University of Western Australia)

The electron density in synthetic calcite, CaCO3, has been determined using diffraction data for a naturally faced single crystal measured with X-ray Mo Ka (A = 0.71073/~) radiation. Extinction corrections that minimize differences between equivalent reflection intensities are closely approximated by the values which…

A neutron powder diffraction study of partially dehydrated fluorapophyllite, KCa4Si8O20F.6.9H2O

Kenny Ståhl1993-01-01European Journal of Mineralogy

Fluorapopbyllite, KCa 4 Si 8 O 20 F.nH 2 O, n(H 2 O) = 8, was dehydrated at 473 K to an average of n(H 2 O) = 4. Rietveld analysis of neutron powder diffraction data from the partially dehydrated sample showed no evidence of a crystalline hemi-dehydrated form of fluorapophyllite. The dehydration process is described a…

Photochemistry of charge transfer complexes of styrene derivatives with tetranitromethane. X-Ray crystal structure of a novel dimeric adduct from p-methylstyrene

Lizamma Mathew、Babu Varghese、Sethuraman Sankararaman1993-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Perkin Transactions 2

Styrene and its derivatives form coloured charge transfer complexes with tetranitromethane as the acceptor. These complexes are stable in acetonitrile under neutral conditions in the dark for several days. Photochemistry of these complexes was found to be highly dependent on the structure and substituent effects on th…

Christian Oehr、H. Bauser、G. Hellwig 等 5 位作者1993-01-01Journal of Biomaterials Science Polymer Edition

Polysiloxane films were prepared by plasma polymerization and dip coating. Upon these films PEG was grafted by conventional methods, and ethylene oxide by plasma activation. Before and after grafting the films were analyzed by contact angle and ESCA measurements as well as by FTIR-ATR-spectroscopy and TOF-SIMS. Furthe…

Eu 3+ Ion Luminescence Crystal Structure Determination for Lanthanide Sesquioxides

Peter A. Tanner、Czesław Rudowicz1993-01-01Applied Spectroscopy

Recently, Chen et al. have suggested that the Eu3+ ion luminescence from f-f transitions could be used as an alternative to x-ray diffraction in the determination of crystal structure. From the results of the room-temperature luminescence data for three different host crystals only, the authors claim that this method…

Seventeen esters, derived from 4-n-alkoxy-3-fluorophenols and 4-(5-n-alkyl-2-thienyl)benzoic acids, have been prepared and their liquid crystal transition temperatures determined by thermal optical microscopy. On cooling the isotropic liquid, the SA-SC-SA sequence of phases reported for the octyloxy-octyl and octyloxy…

Preparation and characterization of crystalline ZrC films

T Tessner、P.R. Davis1993-01-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A Vacuum Surfaces and Films

The characterization of the surface properties of ZrC films grown by thermally evaporating ZrC onto room temperature W(100)and W(110) and then annealing, are reported. These films as deposited have no long range order as determined by low energy electron diffraction, but heating to above 1800 K produces well-ordered l…

Spatial dispersion in chiral liquid crystals. Effects of higher orders

Е. И. Демихов、H. Stegemeyer1993-01-01Liquid Crystals

Spatial dispersion effects in chiral liquid crystals are reviewed. New spatial dispersion phenomena are observed in the vicinity of the Bragg reflection wavelength–an anomaly of the refractive index and an optical anisotropy of the cubic blue phases. These effects can be explained by taking into account the spatial di…
