Influence of Temperature and Composition on the Mesoscopic Textures of Azobenzene Langmuir Monolayers

Joaquim Crusats、R. Albalat、Josep Claret 等 5 位作者2004-09-01Langmuir

The monolayer behavior of the azobenzene derivative 8Az3COOH is shown to depend significatively on temperature and on the isomeric (trans-cis) composition. For pure trans monolayers, important temperature effects in the mesoscopic organization (as revealed by means of Brewster angle microscopy, BAM) are observed for t…

Brad H. Lee、Kijung Yong2004-09-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing Measurement and Phenomena

Tungsten nitride (WNx) is a potentially strong candidate for Cu diffusion barrier. The WNx films were deposited by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using W(CO)6 and NH3 sources at 430°C. The diffusion barrier properties of WNx were investigated by comparison with other materials. In order to study the barrier propertie…

Synthesis and Stabilization of Nanocrystalline Zirconia with MSU Mesostructure

Xiaoming Liu、Gao Qing Lu、ZF Yan2004-09-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

In the presence of nonionic block-copolymer surfactant, nanocrystalline zirconia particles with MSU mesostructure were synthesized by a novel solid-state reaction route. The zirconia particles possess a nanocrystalline pore wall, which renders higher thermal stability compared to an amorphous framework. To further enh…

Numerical and Physical Modeling of Polymer Crystallization

J. M. Haudin、J.‐L. Chenot2004-09-01International Polymer Processing

Abstract In this first paper, we have revisited Avrami's model and cast its basic equations into a differential system. This system is integrated numerically, which avoids unnecessary simplifying assumptions generally used in order to get analytical expressions. This allows us to introduce the variations of nucleation…

Effect of Magnetic Hysteresis on Rotational Losses in Heteropolar Magnetic Bearings

David C. Meeker、Alexei Filatov、Eric H. Maslen2004-09-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

This paper extends a method for predicting rotational losses for laminated rotors of heteropolar magnetic bearings by using an eddy-current model to include the effect of magnetic hysteresis in the rotor material. It compares the modeling results to the experimental data that were used earlier to assess the loss model…

Linear and nonlinear optical spectroscopy of gadolinium iron borate GdFe3(BO3)4

A. M. Kalashnikova、В. В. Павлов、R. V. Pisarev 等 6 位作者2004-09-01Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics Letters

The optical spectra and the second-harmonic generation (SHG) are studied in a noncentrosymmetric GdFe3(BO3)4 magnet. In the region of weak absorption (α∼20–400 cm−1) below ∼3 eV, three absorption bands are distinguished, which can be unambiguously assigned to forbidden electronic transitions from the ground 6 A 1 stat…

Oriano Bottauscio、M. Chiampi、Alessandra Manzin 等 4 位作者2004-09-01IEEE Transactions on Magnetics

The paper examines factors and parameters that affect the additional losses produced in the rotor cage of an induction motor during a no-load test at synchronous speed. The analysis uses a numerical approach based on a finite-element step-by-step procedure, taking into account the rotor movement. Iron losses are evalu…

Liquid Crystal Lens Array with Hexagonal-Hole-Patterned Electrodes

Mao Ye、Shin Hayasaka、Susumu Sato2004-09-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

Liquid crystal (LC) lens arrays are prepared using hexagonal-hole-patterned electrodes. Two lens array structures are studied. The LC lens arrays have a focal length that is tunable by adjusting the applied voltage. By using the electrodes with the hexagonal-hole arrays, the aperture of the lens array can be increased.
