The building blocks {Co(6)PW(9)} converging lacunary polyoxometalates and high-nuclear {Co(6)} clusters are further linked by semi-rigid bis(triazole) ligands to construct a 2D → 3D framework under hydrothermal conditions, [Co(6)(μ(3)-OH)(3)(H(2)O)(9)L(PW(9)O(34))] (1) (L = 4,4'-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)biphenyl).

Simulated Optical Properties of Gold Nanocubes and Nanobars by Discrete Dipole Approximation

Mohammed Alsawafta、Mamoun Wahbeh、Vo‐Van Truong2012-01-01Journal of Nanomaterials

The absorption spectra for a gold nanocube and for a gold nanobar are calculated by using the Discrete Dipole Approximation (DDA). The results show the excitation of a single albeit broad surface plasmon (SP) band of the gold nanocube. The extinction cross section of the gold nanocube is dominated by the absorption cr…

Fate of methanol molecule sandwiched between hydrogen-terminated diamond-like carbon films by tribochemical reactions: tight-binding quantum chemical molecular dynamics study

Kentaro Hayashi、Seiichiro Sato、Shandan Bai 等 9 位作者2012-01-01Faraday Discussions

Recently, much attention has been given to diamond-like carbon (DLC) as a solid-state lubricant, because it exhibits high resistance to wear, low friction and low abrasion. Experimentally it is reported that gas environments are very important for improving the tribological characteristics of DLC films. Recently one o…

We demonstrate a nonlinear metamaterial that can be switched between low and high transmission by controlling the power level of the incident beam. The origin of this nonlinear response is the superconducting Nb thin film employed in the metamaterial structure. We show that with moderate RF power of about 22 dBm it is…

Undoped and Mn-doped (1−x)BaTiO3–xBi(Ni1/2Ti1/2)O3 (x = 0.03–0.7) ceramics were synthesized by a conventional solid state route. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed that the crystal structure was a tetragonal perovskite at x = 0.03, a pseudo-cubic perovskite at x = 0.1 and 0.3, and mixed phases at x = 0.5–0.7. The die…

Line-Tension Model for Plasticity as the $\Gamma$-Limit of a Nonlinear Dislocation Energy

Lucia Scardia、Caterina Ida Zeppieri2012-01-01SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis

In this paper we rigorously derive a line-tension model for plasticity as the $\Gamma$-limit of a nonlinear mesoscopic dislocation energy, without resorting to the introduction of an ad hoc cut-off radius. The $\Gamma$-limit we obtain as the length of the Burgers vector tends to zero has the same form as the $\Gamma$-…
