Development of Laboratory Procedure for Measuring Friction of HMA Mixtures - Phase I

Timothy W. Vollor、Douglas I Hanson2006-12-01OpenAlex

Pavement friction during wet conditions continues to be a major safety concern for pavement design and maintenance. The skid resistance of pavements is commonly measured using ASTM E 274, Skid Resistance of Paved Surfaces Using a Full-Scale Tire. However, there are no standard test procedures for evaluating the fricti…

The phase relationships in the LaFeO 3 -LaSrFeO 4 system at temperatures in the range 1000–2100°C in air are investigated, and the phase diagram of the system is constructed. One perovskite-like compound, namely, La 2 SrFe 2 O 7 , which belongs to the Ruddlesden-Popper phases, is revealed in the system.

Nonlinear piezoelectric resonance: A theoretically rigorous approach to constant I−V measurements

J. F. Blackburn、Markys G. Cain2006-12-01Journal of Applied Physics

Methods for piezoelectric characterization include the standard resonance test. At higher powers, however, the material’s inherent nonlinearity acts to significantly affect the expected resonance response. High-power resonance methods have previously been developed to describe piezoelectric nonlinearity. In this artic…

Synthesis of Amphiphilic Silver Nanoparticles in Nanoreactors from Invertible Polyester

A. Voronov、Ananiy Kohut、Wolfgang Peukert2006-12-01Langmuir

A silver complex is transformed into amphiphilic nanoparticles at room temperature using nanoreactors formed from an amphiphilic polyester. It takes a few minutes to form silver nanocolloids with a narrow particle size distribution. Developed silver forms a stable dispersion in both polar and nonpolar media. The amphi…

Giant photo-expansion in chalcogenide glass

Keiji Tanaka、Akira Saitoh、Nobuaki Terakado2006-12-01Hokkaido University Collection of Scholarly and Academic Papers (Hokkaido University)

Glass exhibits many kinds of photoinduced phenomena, among which the giant photo-expansion appearing in chalcogenide glasses such as As2S3 may be the most dramatic and promising. Its feature, mechanism, and application including micro-lenses are described.

Studies of Robustness of Industrial Aciniform Aggregates and Agglomerates???Carbon Black and Amorphous Silicas: A Review Amplified by New Data

C.A. Gray、Henry J. Muranko2006-12-01Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to demonstrate that severe mechanical processing of industrial aciniform aggregates results in some fracture of large aggregates and minimal liberation of "primary particles." METHODS: Carbon black and amorphous silica were subjected to uniaxial compression, mixing into rubbe…

Toughening with Little Stiffness Loss: Polyamide Filled with ABC Triblock Copolymers

Laurent Corté、Valéry Rebizant、Gilles Hochstetter 等 5 位作者2006-12-01Macromolecules

In semicrystalline polymers, important toughening is obtained with dispersions of rubber particles. However, adding rubber most often induces a substantial loss in elastic modulus. In the present study, we investigate how to avoid such softening by using ABC triblock copolymers with low rubber content. A polyamide-12…

J. Greaves、Layla S. Almazroai、Abdullahi Nuhu 等 5 位作者2006-12-01Gold bulletin

Methanol can be reformed with water, at ambient temperature, using photocatalysis, and this reaction represents a possible low energy, more sustainable pathway to hydrogen production than (for instance) steam reforming. The requirements for the catalysts are rather strict since titania itself is almost inactive for an…
