Excitation of plasmons in Ag/Fe/W structure by spin-polarized electrons

S. Samarin、O.M. Artamonov、А. П. Барабан 等 6 位作者2015-09-07Applied Physics Letters

Using Spin-polarized Electron-Energy Loss Spectroscopy (SPEELS), the plasmon excitations were probed in a few atomic layers thick Ag film deposited on an Fe layer or on a single crystal of W(110). The measurements were performed at two specular geometries with either a 25° or 72° angle of incidence. On a clean Fe laye…

V. K. Dolmatov、Matthew Cooper、M E Hunter2015-09-07Journal of Physics Conference Series

Modelling of the C 60 cage by a square-well potential U c ( r ) is a popular approximation. In the literature, some inconsistency is present in choosing the magnitudes of parameters of U c ( r ). In the present study, e + C 60 and e + A @C 60 elastic scattering is scrutinized versus the parameters of U c ( r ) in orde…

A model for the Pockels effect in distorted liquid crystal blue phases

F. Castles2015-09-07Applied Physics Letters

Recent experiments have found that a mechanically distorted blue phase can exhibit a primary linear electro-optic (Pockels) effect [F. Castles et al., Nat. Mater. 13, 817 (2014)]. Here, it is shown that flexoelectricity can account for the experimental results and a model, which is based on continuum theory but takes…
