Super-hydrophobic Surfaces Produced by Plasma Fluorination of Polybutadiene Films

I. S. Woodward、W. C. E. Schofield、Vincent Roucoules 等 4 位作者2003-03-18OpenAlex

Plasma fluorination followed by cross-linking of polybutadiene films gives rise to the formation of hard super-hydrophobic surfaces. The combined effect of low surface energy and substrate roughness is found to underpin the observed liquid repellency behavior.

Surface modification of thermotropic poly(oxybenzoate‐co‐oxynaphthoate) copolyester by remote oxygen plasma for copper metalization

Sang Kyoo Lim、N. Inagaki2003-03-17Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract Poly(oxybenzoate‐ co ‐oxynaphthoate) (POCO) film surfaces were modified with remote oxygen plasma, and the effects of the modification on the adhesion between the copper layer and POCO were investigated. The remote‐oxygen‐plasma treatment led to a noticeable decrease in the contact angle, which was mainly due…

The magnetism and magnetotransport properties of doped perovskite LaMn 1− x Zn x O 3 ( x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40) have been studied. All samples exhibit insulating behaviour under zero field and a 6 T field (except for x = 0.05, the weak insulating–metallic transition occurs near T C under zero field), bu…

Synthesis of polyethylene‐graft‐poly(styrene‐co‐maleic anhydride) and its compatibilizing effects on polyethylene/starch blends

Eun‐Soo Park、Jin‐San Yoon2003-03-17Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract Low density polyethylene (LDPE) was reacted with benzoyl peroxide (BPO) and 2,2,6,6‐tetramethyl‐l‐piperidinyloxy (TEMPO) to prepare a latent macroinitiator, PE–TEMPO. Little polymer was synthesized when maleic anhydride (MAH) was bulk polymerized in the presence of the PE–TEMPO. However, addition of styrene a…

Effects of blend ratio and vulcanizate powders on the processability of silicone rubber/fluororubber blends

Arun Ghosh、Binay Kumar、Amit Bhattacharya 等 4 位作者2003-03-17Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract While silicone rubber has a much lower shear viscosity than that of fluororubber, the viscosity of silicone rubber/fluororubber blends is closer to that of silicone rubber. All rubber compositions show pseudoplastic behavior. While the viscosity of a 50/50 silicone rubber/fluororubber blend increases on repla…

Size-selective photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy in CdTe quantum dots

Yury P. Rakovich、Laura Walsh、A. Louise Bradley 等 7 位作者2003-03-17Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE

We present a photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation study of CdTe quantum dots, prepared via a novel organometallic approach. The global photoluminescence (excited at the energy above the absorption edge) showed a red shift of 75 meV with respect to the first absorption peak. This band edge emission was fo…

Structure and Thermal Properties of Thin Film Poly(α‐methylstyrene) Deposited via Plasma‐Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition

Daniel Burkey、Karen K. Gleason2003-03-17Chemical Vapor Deposition

Abstract Plasma‐enhanced (PE) CVD from α‐methylstyrene is a dry method for synthesizing directly patternable sacrificial materials for generating pores or air dielectric layers. Films deposited at low power excitation (40 W) decompose between 65 °C and 75 °C, leave minimal residue following a 400 °C anneal for 2 h, an…

We studied the magnetic properties and the magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) of (Ga,Mn)As films with two kinds of the hole-carrier density though keeping a constant value in the Mn concentration grown by the molecular beam epitaxy method. To control the carrier density in (Ga,Mn)As, we utilized Sn atoms, which compens…
