An examination of the structures of iodosylbenzene (PhIO) and the related imido compound, PhINSO 2 -4-Me-C 6 H 4 , by X-ray powder diffraction and EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure) spectroscopy
Structural data derived from X-ray powder diffraction and EXAFS spectroscopy are presented for iodosylbenzene (PhIO) and the imido analogue, PhINSO2-4-Me-C6H4, which indicate that these compounds are polymeric in the solid state.

By measuring the surface pressure–area isotherm at an air-water interface, an ion-exchange adduct of synthetic saponite with trimethylstearylammonium cation has been revealed to form a monolayer which is transferred on a hydrophobic glass plate as an oriented multilayer film.
