Long-wavelength optical phonon properties of ternary MgZnO thin films

Jiaxin Chen、Wenzhong Shen2003-09-12Applied Physics Letters

Far-infrared (FIR) reflection measurements have been employed to study the long-wavelength optical phonon properties in cubic MgZnO thin films grown by reactive electron beam evaporation on sapphire substrates. The frequencies of the optical phonons with T2 symmetry are obtained by calculating the FIR reflection spect…

Heather M. Powell、John J. Lannutti2003-09-12Langmuir

The reactive ion etching of poly(ethylene terephthalate) using various gas compositions was examined. A radio frequency power supply operating at 30 kHz was used to produce plasmas from the following gases and 50:50 gas mixtures: Ar, N 2, O 2, Ar−N 2, Ar−O 2, and N 2 −O 2 . Exposure times were typically 10, 20, and 30…

Platinum(100) hillock growth in a Pt/Ti electrode stack for ferroelectric random access memory

Won Woong Jung、Si Kyung Choi、Soon Yong Kweon 等 4 位作者2003-09-12Applied Physics Letters

The Pt hillock in a Pt/Ti electrode stack has been the main concern in ferroelectric random access memory due to the reliability problem. The origin of the hillock formation is the compressive stress, and the main mass transport mechanism for hillock formation is the grain boundary diffusion for thin films with a colu…

Relaxivity Studies on Dinitroxide and Polynitroxyl Functionalized Dendrimers: Effect of Electron Exchange and Structure on Paramagnetic Relaxation Enhancement

Ashok Maliakal、Nicholas J. Turro、Anton W. Bosman 等 5 位作者2003-09-12The Journal of Physical Chemistry A

The 1 H NMR relaxivity of o - and p -dinitroxide-substituted phthalate esters and a series of nitroxyl-functionalized poly(propylene imine) dendrimers has been measured in acetonitrile and methanol. Studies of dinitroxide relaxivity indicate that the electron exchange rate has only a small effect on relaxivity. Outer-…

Dendronized polymers (DenPol's) up to generation 3 were equipped with NCN−palladium and −platinum pincer complexes at their peripheries, using active ester chemistry. The palladium compounds catalyze the aldol condensation of benzaldehyde with methyl isocyanoacetate and show a generation-independent activity.

Homogeneous Incorporation of Metal Nanoparticles into Ordered Macroporous Carbons

Theodore F. Baumann、Joe H. Satcher2003-09-12Chemistry of Materials

We present the first examples of ordered macroporous carbons (OMCs) containing metal nanoparticles and hierarchical pore structures. The sol−gel polymerization of formaldehyde with potassium 2,4-dihydroxybenzoate within the void spaces of an ordered array of polystyrene spheres, followed by ion exchange, template remo…

Experimental results demonstrating Peltier cooling below 10 K are reported, using crystals of the thermoelectric cerium hexaboride (CeB6). Direct measurements of the Peltier cooling showed δT up to ∼0.2 K in magnitude at T∼4–5 K. All three kinetic parameters: resistivity (ρ), heat conductivity (k), and Seebeck coeffic…

Raluca‐Ioana Stefan‐van Staden、Semere Ghebru Bairu2003-09-12Analytical Chemistry

A new class of electrochemical sensors, namely, electrodes based on diamond paste, was designed using monocrystalline diamond (natural diamond 1 microm and synthetic diamond, 50 microm (synthetic-1) and 1 microm (synthetic-2)) powder and paraffin oil. The characterization of the electrodes was performed using cyclic v…

In the present study we experimentally investigate bubble dynamics after laser induced shock wave exposure in the vicinity of salt crystals suspended in water. High-speed microscopic images show aspherical collapse and rebound of single and multiple bubbles with initial radii between 5 and 150 μm. Radius time curves o…

Co-doped La0.5Sr0.5TiO3−δ: Diluted magnetic oxide system with high Curie temperature

Yonggang Zhao、S. R. Shinde、Satishchandra Ogale 等 14 位作者2003-09-12Applied Physics Letters

Ferromagnetism is observed at and above room temperature in pulsed laser deposited epitaxial films of Co-doped Ti-based oxide perovskite (La0.5Sr0.5TiO3−δ). The system has the characteristics of an intrinsic diluted magnetic semiconductor (metal) at low concentrations (<∼2%), but develops inhomogeneity at highe…

Biomimetic Honeycomb-Structured Surfaces Formed from Block Copolymers Incorporating Acryloyl Phosphorylcholine

Martina H. Stenzel、Thomas P. Davis2003-09-12Australian Journal of Chemistry

We report the preparation of biomimetic honeycomb-structured porous films. These regular arrays were obtained by casting block copolymers composed of polystyrene and poly(acryloyl phosphorylcholine), so that they mimicked a cell membrane. The size of the pores and regularity of the hexagonal array is strongly dependen…

Antonino Gulino、Paolo Dapporto、Patrizia Rossi 等 4 位作者2003-09-12Chemistry of Materials

The novel [Co(C5F6HO2)2·2H2O·CH3(OCH2CH2)4OCH3] low-melting adduct has been synthesized and characterized. Very mild heating results in the anhydrous Co(hfac)2tetraglyme liquid and thermal stable complex that evaporates intact. This adduct has proven to be a well-suited precursor for MOCVD of cobalt oxide films.
