Structural properties of TmFeO3 in the spontaneous reorientation region

L. T. Tsymbal、V. I. Kamenev、D. A. Khara 等 5 位作者2006-08-01Low Temperature Physics

X-ray studies of TmFeO3 single crystals in the spontaneous spin-reorientation region demonstrate the absence of lattice distortions and no lowering of the symmetry of the crystal from rhombic to monoclinic and thus confirm the purely magnetic nature of the Γ2–Γ24–Γ4 spin reorientation in orthoferrites.

Electromotive Force for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Using Biomass Produced Gas as Fuel

Wei Zhu、Yanhong Yin、Cen Gao 等 5 位作者2006-08-01Chinese Journal of Chemical Physics

The electromotive force (e.m.f.) of solid oxide fuel cells using biomass produced gas (BPG) as the fuels is calculated at 700-1,200 K using an in-house computer program, based on thermodynamic equilibrium analysis. Tour program also predicts the concentration of oxygen in the fuel chamber as well as the concentration…

Combined Thermoelectric and Structure Characterizations of Patterned Nanowires

Anastassios Mavrokefalos、Michael T. Pettes、Sanjoy Kumar Saha 等 5 位作者2006-08-01OpenAlex

Theoretical studies have suggested that Bi-based and III-V nanowire structures may have high thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT). It was found in a previous measurement that the thermoelectric properties of individual electro-deposited bismuth telluride nanowires are largely influenced by the crystal structure includi…

Prediction of Particulate Loading in Exhaust from Fabric Filter Baghouses with One or More Failed Bags

Wenjun Qin、Manuel Dekermenjian、R. J. Martin2006-08-01Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association

Loss of filtration efficiency in a fabric filter baghouse is typically caused by bag failure, in one form or another. The degree of such failure can be as minor as a pinhole leak or as major as a fully involved baghouse fire. In some cases, local air pollution regulations or federal hazardous waste laws may require es…

Hydrous Ruthenium Oxide with High Rate Pseudo-Capacitance Prepared by a New Sol-Gel Process

Xiaofeng Wang、Zheng You、Dianbo Ruan2006-08-01Chinese Journal of Chemical Physics

A kind of ruthenium oxide with smaller particles and higher porosity was prepared by a sol-gel process with RuCl3xH2O and NaHCO3 solution. Several details concerning this new material, including crystal structure, particle size as functions of the temperature, and electrochemical properties were also reported. The opt…

Bistable nematic liquid crystal device with flexoelectric switching

L. J. Cummings、Giles Richardson2006-08-01European Journal of Applied Mathematics

Motivated generally by potential applications in the liquid crystal display industry [8,35], and specifically by recent experimental, theoretical and numerical work [6,7,13,14,21,25,30,31], we consider a thin film of nematic liquid crystal (NLC), sandwiched between two parallel plates. Enumeration of distinct mechanically stable disk packings in small systems

G.-J. Gao、J. Blawzdziewicz、C. S. O'Hern2006-08-01The Philosophical Magazine A Journal of Theoretical Experimental and Applied Physics

We create mechanically stable (MS) packings of bidisperse disks using an algorithm in which we successively grow or shrink soft repulsive disks followed by energy minimization until the overlaps are vanishingly small. We focus on small systems because this enables us to enumerate nearly all distinct MS packings. We me…
