The chemistry of metal-metal bonded metalloporphyrins has undergone significant development during the last decade. The synthesis, chemical reactivity, physical properties and electrochemistry of metal-metal bonded metalloporphyrins containing both σ and donor-acceptor bonds are presented. These new classes of metallo…

The problem of a dielectric slab inside a parallel-plate capacitor is considered from the point of view of a simple force calculation. The usual method of presenting this problem, found in most textbooks, is via energy considerations. The method presented here allows corrections to the well-known result to be obtained.

Abstract A large amount of solids of (2-hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium silicate, whose silicate skeleton has the double four-membered ring structure, was abruptly separated out from the mixed solution of (2-hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium hydroxide aqueous solution and tetraethoxysilane after a few hours of stirring.

A systematic investigation of the magnetic properties of neodymium-cobalt-boron alloys rapidly solidified by melt spinning is reported. Room-temperature coercivities and energy products as large as 10.2 kOe and 5.2 MGOe, respectively, have been observed in ribbons comprised primarily of tetragonal Nd2Co14B. We find th…

The pentalene derivative 2 is only inductively stabilized. It was obtained by reaction of the dihydro derivative 1 with nickel peroxide. Comparison of the spectroscopic data with the results of MNDO calculations indicates that the Kekulé structure shown here dominates; that is, the bonds are fixed.

Abstract The melt rheological properties of nickel powder filled polypropylene composites were investigated. The effect of filler concentration on shear stress‐shear rate data, melt viscosity and melt elasticity parameters were determined by using a capillary rheometer. The study shows that the materials follow a powe…

Single crystals of the magnetoplumbite (MP)-like compounds La1−xCex MgAl11O19 (0≤x≤1) have been grown from the melt by the flame fusion method. These crystals have been characterized by optical absorption and fluorescence which occur between 4f and 5d levels as well as by electron spin resonance at 20 K. For dilute sa…
