First order transitions to a lyotropic biaxial nematic

Per-Ola Quist1995-04-01Liquid Crystals

The phase diagram of the sodium dodecylsulphate/decanol/water system is studied by2H NMR spectroscopy in the range between the calamitic nematic (N+ C) and discotic nematic (N− D) phases. In this narrow range a nematic biaxial phase (NBX) is observed. The phase transitions between the nematic phases are all of first o…

Polysilane Dendrimer. Synthesis and Characterization of [2,2-(Me3Si)2Si3Me5]3SiMe

Hiroshi Suzuki、Yoshinori Kimata、Shin Satoh 等 4 位作者1995-04-01Chemistry Letters

Abstract The entitled compound was synthesized by using a step-growth polymerization technique and its molecular structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. This dendrimer showed a distinct UV absorption maximum at 264 nm and exhibited two very feeble fluorescence maxima at 320 nm and 400 nm.

Radiative association and inverse predissociation of oxygen atoms

J. F. Babb、A. Dalgarno1995-04-01Physical Review A

The formation of ${\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ by radiative association and by inverse predissociation of ground-state oxygen atoms is studied using quantum-mechanical methods. Cross sections, emission spectra, and rate coefficients are presented and compared with prior experimental and theoretical results. At temperatures below…

Larkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell state in quasi-one-dimensional superconductors

N. Dupuis1995-04-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The properties of a quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) superconductor with an open Fermi surface are expected to be unusual in a magnetic field. On the one hand, the quasi-1D structure of the Fermi surface strongly favors the formation of a nonuniform state [Larkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell (LOFF) state] in the presence…

Thermal Agglomeration of Thin Single Crystal Si on SiO2 in Vacuum

Yukinori Ono、Masao Nagase、Michiharu Tabe 等 4 位作者1995-04-01Japanese Journal of Applied Physics

Changes in the surface structure of the single-crystal Si/SiO 2 /Si system during vacuum heating (950-1200° C) have been investigated using atomic force microscopy and scanning Auger electron microscopy. When the top Si layer is sufficiently thin, e.g. , below ∼30 nm for heating at 1100° C, holes are formed due to Si…

We have studied the temporal variation of the visible photoluminescence from rapid thermally oxidized porous silicon prepared from n+ substrates. In contrast to the red (slow band) emission, which is observable immediately after high-temperature oxidation, the blue (fast band) emission is shown to become prevalent onl…

Influence of Slurry Flocculation on the Character and Compaction of Spray‐Dried Silicon Nitride Granules

Hideo Takahashi、Nobuhiro Shinohara、Masataro Okumiya 等 7 位作者1995-04-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The effect of slurry flocculation on the characteristics of silicon nitride granules prepared by the spray drying process is investigated. The flocculation state of an aqueous silicon nitride slurry is controlled by adding nitric acid and evaluated as a function of pH. Dense and hard silicon nitride granules result fr…
