Stability of polyaniline in air and acidic water

Stephen C. Hobaica2003-03-04Journal of Polymer Science Part B Polymer Physics

Abstract Polyaniline is a member of the class of electrically conducting polymers, having possible commercial applications such as coatings. Aqueous‐based polyaniline coatings are preferred over organic solvent or concentrated strong acid based coatings because water is not a pollutant. The overall goal of this study…

Lin Guo、Yunliang Ji、Huibin Xu 等 5 位作者2003-03-04Journal of Materials Chemistry

A new route has been developed to prepare rod-like nano-scaled ZnC2O4·2H2O whiskers using dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid sodium salt (DBS) as a template. Rod-like nano-scaled ZnC2O4·2H2O whiskers with diameters of 200–300 nm and lengths in the range of 5–20 µm were prepared successfully. The structure and morphology chan…

Conservation of Electrostatic Properties within Enzyme Families and Superfamilies

Dennis R. Livesay、Per Jambeck、Atipat Rojnuckarin 等 4 位作者2003-03-04Biochemistry

Electrostatic interactions play a key role in enzyme catalytic function. At long range, electrostatics steer the incoming ligand/substrate to the active site, and at short distances, electrostatics provide the specific local interactions for catalysis. In cases in which electrostatics determine enzyme function, orthol…

Relation between space charge and polymeric insulation ageing: cause and effect

Gian Carlo Montanari2003-03-04IEE Proceedings - Science Measurement and Technology

Recent results and speculations regarding the possibilities that space charges cause ageing in polymeric insulating materials subjected to a DC electric field are highlighted. Referring to polyethylene-based materials, data are reported that show the relation between accelerated degradation of insulation, the amount o…

Akio Nakamoto、Yuuki Ono、Norimichi Kojima 等 5 位作者2003-03-04Chemistry Letters

Abstract We have synthesized [FeII(H-trz)3]n complex film by using ion-exchange resin(Nafion) as counter anion, and have found the spin crossover phenomenon about at 260 K. Moreover, we have proved the existence of straight one-dimensional Fe chain structure of [FeII(H-trz)3]n on Nafion by means of EXAFS.

Space charge measurement in polymer insulated power cables using flat ground electrode PEA system

Mingli Fu、G. Chen2003-03-04IEE Proceedings - Science Measurement and Technology

Data processing methods used to accurately determine the space charge and electric stress distributions in DC power cables using the pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) system are described. Due to the coaxial geometry and the thick-walled insulation of high-voltage cables, factors such as divergence, attenuation and dispers…

“Beaded” Bimetallic Nanowires: Wiring Nanoparticles of Metal 1 Using Nanowires of Metal 2

Erich C. Walter、Benjamin J. Murray、Frèdéric Favier 等 4 位作者2003-03-04Advanced Materials

Aligned metal nanoparticles are connected using a second metal to produce bimetallic wires. The nanoparticles are electrodeposited along the step edges of a highly oriented graphite surface and, after being given a protective coating, joined by long nanowires which are also electrodeposited. Beaded structures are prod…

Maria Kilfoil、Eugene Pashkovski、James A. Masters 等 4 位作者2003-03-04Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A Mathematical Physical and Engineering Sciences

We discuss the behaviour of the dynamics of colloidal particles with a weak attractive interparticle interaction that is induced through the addition of polymer to the solvent. We briefly review the description of their behaviour in terms of the jamming phase diagram, which parametrized the fluid-to-solid transition d…

Sparse matrix multiplications for linear scaling electronic structure calculations in an atom‐centered basis set using multiatom blocks

Chandra Saravanan、Yihan Shao、Roi Baer 等 5 位作者2003-03-04Journal of Computational Chemistry

A sparse matrix multiplication scheme with multiatom blocks is reported, a tool that can be very useful for developing linear-scaling methods with atom-centered basis functions. Compared to conventional element-by-element sparse matrix multiplication schemes, efficiency is gained by the use of the highly optimized bas…
