Determination of temperature difference in carbon nanostructures in field emission

K. V. Reich、E. D. Eidelman、A. Ya. Vul’2007-07-01Technical Physics

It is shown that a large temperature difference between the emitting surface and the substrate exists in the case of field emission of electrons from nanosize carbon structures. This makes it possible to explain small values of the effective electron work function in the case of field emission from such structures.

Molecular orientation ordering in surface layers of polymer films

A. V. Maksimov、G. M. Pavlov2007-07-01Polymer Science Series A

The spontaneous ordering of fragments of chain molecules near the surface in polymer films is described in terms of the multichain model that allows for local intra-and interchain orientational interactions of chain segments and for transverse fluctuation of their orientation in the approximation of strong planar-orie…

The structure of semiconductor crystals Zn1−x V x 2+ Se (x = 0.0018) and Zn1−x Cr x 2+ Se (x = 0.0006) was studied for the first time using thermal neutron diffraction at 300 and 120 K. The diffraction patterns of the crystals were revealed to contain diffuse scattering regions near the Bragg reflections of the initia…

We characterized the structure of the crystallographic domain of a (Pr 0.7 Ca 0.3 )MnO 3 (PCMO ( x =0.3)) thin film epitaxially grown on a (001)SrTiO 3 (STO) single‐crystal substrate. We found that the domain structure exhibited an atomically smooth coherent interface with the STO substrate with no misfit dislocations…

Real‐Time Monitoring of Thermal Cycling Damage in Ceramic Matrix Composites Under a Constant Stress

Hui Mei、Laifei Cheng、Litong Zhang 等 6 位作者2007-07-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Under a constant stress of 50 MPa, a thermal strain with a range of 0.2% was measured on a carbon‐fiber‐reinforced SiC‐matrix composite (C/SiC) subjected to thermal cycling between 700° and 1200°C. Acoustic emission (AE) technology was implemented to assist in monitoring the occurrence of damage during testing. The mo…

Annealing effect in DC and RF sputtered ITO thin films

L. Kerkache、A. Layadi、El Hadj Dogheche 等 4 位作者2007-07-01The European Physical Journal Applied Physics

The effect of annealing on the physical properties of DC and RF sputtered ITO thin films has been investigated. Two series of samples were deposited onto glass substrates, the first one consists of several In2O3:Sn (ITO) prepared by DC reactive sputtering with different partial pressure of oxygen (ppo); in the second…

On the basis of octanol solubility data (log S(o)) for 218 structurally diverse solid chemicals it was shown that the exclusive consideration of melting points did not provide satisfactory results in the quantitative prediction of this parameter (s = 0.92). The application of HYBOT physicochemical descriptors separate…

2D Modeling of high-speed fiber spinning with flow-enhanced crystallization

William H. Kohler、A. J. McHugh2007-07-01Journal of Rheology

A two-dimensional (2D) analysis of fiber spinning is presented based on a modified version of the two-phase model [Shrikhande et al., J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 100, 3240–3254 (2006); Kohler et al., J. Macromol. Sci. Phys. 44, 185–202 (2005)] that accounts for flow-enhanced crystallization (FEC). The modified model employs…

The use of thorium as a “fertile” material in combination with a fissile material (either U233, U235 or plutonium) as an alternative to the uranium fuel cycle received a great deal of attention in many venues from the 1950s to the mid 70s. More recently, new studies have been carried out on this cycle for transmutatio…

Michiru Nishiwaki、Shigekí Kato2007-07-01Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A Vacuum Surfaces and Films

Nonevaporable getter (NEG) film has been used for the beam ducts of particle accelerators as a pump having a large area. NEG film has been considered to have a low outgas rate induced by energetic particle irradiation and a low secondary electron yield (SEY). In this article, we focused on SEY measurements and in situ…

Siti Zaleha Isa、Rosiyah Yahya、Aziz Hassan 等 4 位作者2007-07-01OpenAlex

Liquid natural rubber (LNR /LENR) should be considered as a new material instead of a new type of rubber though they have the same configuration as the rubber used. In this work, thermal degradation of natural rubber latex was carried out to obtain LNR/LENR by varying the reaction time at different temperatures. The d…

P.H.F. Morshuis、R. Bodega、Davide Fabiani 等 6 位作者2007-07-01OpenAlex

A load current in dc high voltage cables results in a temperature drop across the insulation and hence a radial distribution of the insulation conductivity is found. Direct consequence is an accumulation of space charge in the bulk of the insulation, that may significantly affect its reliability. This phenomenon was m…
