Dipolar ordering and quantum dynamics of domain walls inMn12acetate

D. A. Garanin、Eugene M. Chudnovsky2008-11-24Physical Review B

We find that dipolar interactions favor ferromagnetic ordering of elongated crystals of ${\text{Mn}}_{12}$ acetate below 0.8 K. Ordered crystals must possess domain walls. Motion of the wall corresponds to a moving front of Landau-Zener transitions between quantum spin levels. Structure and mobility of the wall are co…

Miscible Blends of Cyclic Poly(oxyethylene) in Linear Polystyrene

Swati Singla、Haskell W. Beckham2008-11-24Macromolecules

Cyclic poly(oxyethylene) (POE) was prepared from hydroxyl-terminated linear POE with molecular weights from 400 to 1500 g/mol using a dilute-solution end-coupling route. These cyclic and linear POEs were solution-mixed with linear polystyrene (PS, 15 kg/mol) to prepare binary blends with POE concentrations from 1.5 to…

Abstract Core‐shell type hyperbranched polymers that are capable of forming unimolecular micelles and reverse micelles in aqueous and hydrocarbon medium, respectively, were synthesized via two approaches, namely AB 2 + A‐R and A 2 + B 3 + A‐R type copolymerizations. In case of micelle‐forming polymers, an AB 2 monomer…

Rie Takagi、Kyoko Masui、Shinichiro Nakamura 等 4 位作者2008-11-24Applied Physics Letters

We developed an electrode/wiring patterning method that does not employ evaporation shadow masks; this method is based on selective metal deposition of photochromic diarylethene (DAE). In the selective Mg deposition based on the photoisomerization of DAE, Mg vapor atoms are deposited only on colored DAE film obtained…

We describe mono-substituted helical poly(phenyl)acetylene, a structural variation of polyacetylene that may overcome its problem: the lack of chemical stability. Helical polyacetylene shows an intrinsic stiff rod structure, which can be enhanced by the choice of suitable side groups. The structure looks like a narrow…
