海洋島起源の石灰石鉱床は炭酸カルシウムの純度が高いことを特徴とするが,場所によりリンが多く含まれることが知られており,そのような石灰石は鉄鋼・カーバイド用原料としては不向きである.合理的な鉱山開発のためにはリンの偏在の実態を把握することが重要と考え,秋吉帯の石炭紀–ペルム紀の海洋島起源の石灰岩について年代・堆積環境ごとにリン含有量を測定した.その結果,礁中核部ではビゼーアン期,サープコビアン期及びグゼリアン期の石灰岩に比べてバシキーリアン期及びモスコビアン期の石灰岩にリン含有量が高いものがしばしばみられること,背礁ではそれらの年代でもリン含有量が低いことが分かった.また,リン含有量は石灰岩中に二次的に沈積するとされる鉄やアルミニウ…
