In this article we report on the thermal properties of the ternary carbide Nb2SnC. Its heat capacity, cp, is 75 J/mol K at ambient temperatures and increases to ≈115 J/mol K at 1300 K. Analysis of cp measurements in the 4–15 K temperature range yields a Debye temperature of 324 K and a density of states at the Fermi l…

Texture Development and Microstructure Evolution in Liquid‐Phase‐Sintered α‐Alumina Ceramics Prepared by Templated Grain Growth

Matthew M. Seabaugh、Gary L. Messing、Mark D. Vaudin2000-12-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Texture development in alumina that contains calcia and silica and has been templated with platelet‐shaped α‐Al 2 O 3 particles has been evaluated. The texture fraction is shown to be related directly to template growth. Texture quality is controlled by the template concentration, decreasing at template concentrations…

Xiaoguang Wang、Uwe Grimm、Michael Schreiber2000-12-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

We study aperiodic systems based on substitution rules by means of a transfer-matrix approach. In addition to the well-known trace map, we investigate the so-called ``antitrace'' map, which is the corresponding map for the difference of the off-diagonal elements of the $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2$ transfer m…
