P. Gangl、U. Langer、A. Laurain 等 5 位作者2015-01-01SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing

The goal of this paper is to improve the performance of an electric motor by modifying the geometry of a specific part of the iron core of its rotor. To be more precise, the objective is to smooth the rotation pattern of the rotor. A shape optimization problem is formulated by introducing a tracking-type cost function…

Observation of unusual slow-relaxation of the magnetisation in a Gd-EDTA chelate

Rebecca J. Holmberg、Le Tuan Anh Ho、Liviu Ungur 等 6 位作者2015-01-01Dalton Transactions

A Gadolinium EDTA chelate displays characteristic isotropic behaviour common of Gd(III) complexes under zero applied magnetic field, and anisotropic behaviour arising from dipolar coupling and weak spin-phonon coupling under an applied magnetic field. This surprising magnetic behaviour for Gd(III) is investigated usin…

Cyclodextrin capped CdTe quantum dots as versatile fluorescence sensors for nitrophenol isomers

Zhi-xing Zhang、Jie Zhou、Yun Liu 等 5 位作者2015-01-01Nanoscale

Cyclodextrin (CD) capped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were prepared with uniform dimension (average diameter ∼5 nm) and high quantum yield (ca. 65%). By taking advantage of the inclusion complexation of CD, β-CD-CdTe QDs exhibited strong fluorescence quenching in a linear relationship with the concentration of o-, m- and p…

Nucleus-staining with biomolecule-mimicking nitrogen-doped carbon dots prepared by a fast neutralization heat strategy

Yan‐Fei Kang、Yangwu Fang、Yuhao Li 等 5 位作者2015-01-01Chemical Communications

Biomolecule-mimicking nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-Cdots) were synthesized from dopamine by a neutralization heat strategy. Fluorescence imaging of various cells validated their nucleus-staining efficiency. The dopamine-mimicking N-Cdots "trick" nuclear membranes to achieve nuclear localization and imaging.

Melt electrospinning of poly(lactic acid) and polycaprolactone microfibers by using a hand-operated Wimshurst generator

Chong-Chong Qin、Xiaopeng Duan、Le Wang 等 9 位作者2015-01-01Nanoscale

A conventional melt electrospinning setup usually needs a large, heavy high-voltage power supply and cannot work without a plug (electricity supply). In this article, we report a new melt electrospinning setup based on a small hand-operated Wimshurst generator, which can avoid electrical interference between the high-…
