Exfoliated Nanosheets as a New Strong Solid Acid Catalyst

Atsushi Takagaki、Mariko Sugisawa、Darling Lu 等 7 位作者2003-04-04Journal of the American Chemical Society

Two-dimensional metal oxide sheets in HTiNbO(5) and HSr(2)Nb(3)O(10), cation-exchangeable layered metal oxides, were examined as solid acid catalysts. Exfoliation of HTiNbO(5) and HSr(2)Nb(3)O(10) in aqueous solutions formed colloidal single-crystal TiNbO(5)(-) and Sr(2)Nb(3)O(10)(-) nanosheets, which precipitated und…

A Trigonal‐Bipyramidal Cyanide Cluster with Single‐Molecule‐Magnet Behavior: Synthesis, Structure, and Magnetic Properties of {[MnII(tmphen)2]3[MnIII(CN)6]2}

Curtis P. Berlinguette、Derek Vaughn、C. Cañada-Vilalta 等 5 位作者2003-04-04Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Slow paramagnetic relaxation was observed at low temperatures from ac susceptibility measurements in the form of a frequency-dependent out-of-phase (χ) signal for the title complex (see picture). This provides compelling evidence that this cluster is a rare example of a cyanide-bridged single-molecule magnet.

Calorimetric and x-ray analysis of the intermediate phase formation in Cu/Mg multilayers

J. Rodríguez‐Viejo、Marta González-Silveira、M.T. Clavaguera-Mora2003-04-03Journal of Applied Physics

The kinetics of intermediate phase formation in (20 nm) Cu/(80 nm) Mg multilayers is analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and in situ x-ray diffraction. The as-prepared Mg layers are polycrystalline with large grain sizes and a columnar structure which gives a preferred orientation along the (0002) d…

A study on the effect of new cyanate and phenoxy polymer on TGDDM/DDS/GMP formulations

Madurai Suguna Lakshmi、M. Srividhya、B. S. R. Reddy2003-04-03Journal of Applied Polymer Science

Abstract An attempt was made on the modification of the tetraglycidyl‐4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl methane/diaminodiphenyl sulfone (TGDDM/DDS) system to improve properties for several industrial applications. Epoxy resins [TGDDM and 1‐glycidyloxy‐4‐methoxy phenol (GMP)] were synthesized in the laboratory. Also, a new cyanate…

Do we have a probe for the initial stages of solid state reactions?

Paolo Ghigna、G. Spinolo、Ivano Alessandri 等 5 位作者2003-04-03Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

The aim of this work is to show that ReflEXAFS can be used as a tool for investigating the initial stages of solid state reactions, when local chemical equilibrium is not yet attained at the interfaces. A very classical solid state reaction, i.e. the formation of Ni–Al spinel starting from the parent oxides (NiO + Al2…

Wai-Hung Chan、Haydn Chen、Eugene V. Colla2003-04-03Applied Physics Letters

Kinetic behaviors of unusual low-temperature ferroelectric properties of Pb0.97La0.02(Zr0.60Sn0.30Ti0.10)O3 ceramic were studied. In a wide temperature range it reveals the antiferroelectric properties with pronounced polarization versus electrical field hysteresis double loops resulting from the field-induced antifer…

Theory of magnetization: Twin boundary interaction in ferromagnetic shape memory alloys

D. I. Paul、J. Marquiss、D. J. Quattrochi2003-04-03Journal of Applied Physics

Much interest has been recently given to the development and understanding of ferromagnetic shape memory alloys. In particular, the interaction of crystallographic twin boundaries with an external magnetic field has been put forth as a mechanism for shape deformation and applied to the alloy Ni2MnGa. In this article,…

UV Raman Analysis of the C:H Network Formed by Compression of Benzene

Bryan R. Jackson、Chad C. Trout、John V. Badding2003-04-03Chemistry of Materials

A continuing challenge in understanding the linkage of unsaturated molecules to produce novel networks has been the analysis of the reaction products. Here we report a UV Raman spectroscopic analysis of the amorphous C:H (a-C:H) network formed by compression of benzene. The network contains both sp 2 - and sp 3 -bonde…

The orientation behavior of liquid crystal networks having the Sm C A structure stabilized by H-bonds has been studied. The mesogenic groups formed by hydrogen bonds generate a layered structure of the polymer. The hydrogen bonds are responsible for the elastic properties of the liquid crystal polymer network and the…
