A probabilistic design method for polymeric structures to operate at high electrical stress

Bill Gregory2000-01-01OpenAlex

Fluid filled cables continue to display reliable operation at high design stresses: conductor screen stresses for paper and PPL designs are 15 kV/mm and 18 kV/mm respectively. Polymeric cables, and accessories, have not been in service long enough to establish, empirically, a limiting value for the design stress as us…

Paulo Franco Barbosa、Sérgio Tonini Button2000-01-01Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Part L Journal of Materials Design and Applications

The mechanical properties of the Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy, used to manufacture high-strength prostheses, are highly dependent on its microstructure. This work presents the microstructural changes of this alloy under isothermal hot working. It is shown that the microstructure is strongly affected by the strain rate, temperatur…

Technical note Pitting corrosion of steel pipeline in oil–water–gas multiphase flow system

Zhao J.-M.、Y. Zuo2000-01-01British Corrosion Journal

Severe pitting corrosion occurred in a horizontal steel pipeline used to transport multiphase fluid, including water, oil, and natural gas, after 2 months of service. The pitting corrosion rate was up to 42 mm/year. Chemical analysis, X-ray diffractometry, and EDAX showed that the corrosion products mainly consisted o…

Changes in Crystal Structures of PVDF in PVDF/PMMA Blends Heat-treated in Several Ways.

Hideo Horibe、Fumiaki Baba2000-01-01NIPPON KAGAKU KAISHI

Size Effect of Interlacer

Weichun Lou、Yoshiyuki Iemoto、Shigeomi Chono2000-01-01Journal of Textile Engineering

In order to clarify the size effect of an interlacer and easily choose conditions to process interlaced yarns with a desired number of tangles, we made 16 interlacers with various sizes of both yarn duct diameter d and air jet nozzle diameter dn and measured the number of tangles of interlaced raw yarn. Then the numbe…

Behavior of a Single Bubble Colliding with a Flat Plate of Poor Wettability

Nozomu Sonoyama、Manabu Iguchi、Yasushi Sasaki 等 4 位作者2000-01-01鐵と鋼 : 日本鐡鋼協會々誌

The behavior of a bubble in collision with a poor wettability plate was experimentally investigated. Equilibrium shape of a sessile bubble beneath a horizontal plate was determined from the condition minimizing the bubble energy being the sum of the potential energy and the surface energy. Rebound motion of an impacti…
