Superconductivity in CuxBi2Se3 and its implications for pairing in the undoped topological insulator

Y. S. Hor、A. J. Williams、J. G. Checkelsky 等 10 位作者2009-09-15arXiv

Bi2Se3 is one of a handful of known topological insulators. Here we show that copper intercalation in the van der Waals gaps between the Bi2Se3 layers, yielding an electron concentration of ~ 2 x 10^20cm-3, results in superconductivity at 3.8 K in CuxBi2Se3 for x between 0.12 and 0.15. This demonstrates that Cooper pa…

Anisotropic growth of long isolated graphene ribbons on the C face of graphite-capped6H-SiC

Nicolas Camara、Jean-Roch Huntzinger、Gemma Rius 等 8 位作者2009-09-15Physical Review B

Using a graphite cap to cover the silicon carbide (SiC) sample, it is shown that large isolated graphene anisotropic ribbons can be grown on the C face of on-axis, semi-insulating, $6H$-SiC wafers. The role of the cap is to modify the physics of the surface reconstruction process during Si sublimation, making more eff…

Bulk Superconductivity at 2.6 K in Undoped RbFe_2As_2

Z. Bukowski、S. Weyeneth、R. Puzniak 等 5 位作者2009-09-15arXiv

The iron arsenide RbFe_2As_2 with the ThCr_2Si_2-type structure is found to be a bulk superconductor with T_c=2.6 K. The onset of diamagnetism was used to estimate the upper critical field H_c2(T), resulting in dH_c2/dT=-1.4 T/K and an extrapolated H_c2(0)=2.5 T. As a new representative of iron pnictide superconductor…

Critical current density for spin transfer torque switching with composite free layer structure

Chun-Yeol You2009-09-15arXiv

Critical current density of composite free layer (CFL) in magnetic tunneling junction is investigated. CFL consists of two exchange coupled ferromagnetic layers, where the coupling is parallel or anti-parallel. Instability condition of the CFL under the spin transfer torque, which is related with critical current dens…

Joel van Embden、Jacek J. Jasieniak、Paul Mulvaney2009-09-15Journal of the American Chemical Society

Here we present the first comprehensive report on CdSe/CdS heterostructure nanocrystals. The effects of core size and shell thickness on the optical properties of CdSe/CdS heterostructure nanocrystals are investigated. We report a reliable synthetic method to grow thick CdS shells on CdSe cores with sizes ranging from…

Bin Luo、Xiaojie Song、Feng Zhang 等 7 位作者2009-09-15Langmuir

Monodisperse organic/inorganic composite microspheres with well-defined structure were prepared through the encapsulation of silica coated superparamagnetic magnetite colloidal nanoparticle clusters (CNCs) with cross-linked poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) shell. At first, the sub-micrometer-sized CNCs were fabric…

We present low temperature magnetoresistance measurements of Ar-irradiated SrTiO3 under an applied electrostatic field. The electric field, applied through a back gate bias, modulates both the mobility and sheet density, with a greater effect on the former. For high mobilities, 3-dimensional orbital magnetoresistance…

Propene Epoxidation with Dioxygen Catalyzed by Gold Clusters

Jiahui Huang、Tomoki Akita、Jérémy Faye 等 6 位作者2009-09-15Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Size matters: Gold clusters (<2.0 nm), but not gold nanoparticles, deposited on alkaline-treated titanosilicalite-1 allow O2 and H2O to react to give hydroperoxides (-OOH). These transfer to neighboring Ti sites to form Ti-OOH (see scheme), which is responsible for propene epoxidation to give propene epoxide (PO).
