Self-Induced Quasistationary Magnetic Fields

E. O. Kamenetskii2006-01-15arXiv

The interaction of electromagnetic radiation with temporally dispersive magnetic solids of small dimensions may show very special resonant behaviors. The internal fields of such samples are characterized by magnetostatic-potential scalar wave functions. The oscillating modes have the energy orthogonality properties an…

M. P. Singh、W. Prellier、L. Mechin 等 5 位作者2006-01-15Journal of Applied Physics

Superlattices composed of ferromagnetics, namely La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO), and ferroelectrics, namely, BaTiO3 (BTO), were grown on SrTiO3 at 720 °C by a pulsed laser deposition process. While the out-of-plane lattice parameters of the superlattices, as extracted from the x-ray diffraction studies, were found to be depend…

Nanoscale Weibull statistics

N. M. Pugno、R. S. Ruoff2006-01-15Journal of Applied Physics

In this paper a modification of the classical Weibull statistics is developed for nanoscale applications. It is called nanoscale Weibull statistics. A comparison between nanoscale and classical Weibull statistics applied to experimental results on fracture strength of carbon nanotubes clearly shows the effectiveness o…

Large thermoelectric figure of merit at high temperature in Czochralski-grown clathrate Ba8Ga16Ge30

Ali Saramat、Gunnar Svensson、Anders E. C. Palmqvist 等 10 位作者2006-01-15OpenAlex

The Czochralski method was used to grow a 46-mm-long crystal of the Ba8Ga16Ge30 clathrate, which was cut into disks that were evaluated for thermoelectric performance. The Seebeck coefficient and electrical and thermal conductivities all showed evidence of a transition from extrinsic to intrinsic behavior in the range…

Microphase and Macrophase Separation in Multicomponent A/B/A−C Polymer Blends with Attractive and Repulsive Interactions

Megan L. Ruegg、Benedict J. Reynolds、Min Lin 等 5 位作者2006-01-14Macromolecules

A balanced A−C diblock copolymer surfactant was used to organize mixtures of immiscible A and B homopolymers. The C block of the copolymer exhibits repulsive and attractive interactions with the A and B homopolymers, respectively, leading to rich phase behavior. Experimental results indicate the existence of a microph…

Carbide-Derived Nanoporous Carbon and Novel Core−Shell Nanowires

Xinqi Chen、Donald R. Cantrell、K. Kohlhaas 等 9 位作者2006-01-14Chemistry of Materials

Carbide-derived carbon (CDC) nanowires (NWs) have been synthesized by the high-temperature treatment of small-diameter β-SiC whiskers with Cl 2 /H 2 . A variety of physical measurements indicate that Si was extracted by exposure to Cl 2 and that the C in the carbon nanowires is primarily sp 2 -bonded. From BET measure…

(Inorganic Nanofiber/Enzyme) Hybrid Hydrogel: Preparation, Characterization, and Enzymatic Activity of Imogolite/Pepsin Conjugate

Nozomi Inoue、Hideyuki Otsuka、Shin-Ichiro Wada 等 4 位作者2006-01-14Chemistry Letters

Abstract The hybrid hydrogel composed of tubular aluminosilicate nanofiber, “imogolite,” and pepsin was prepared in a simple manner. We confirmed the formation of a network structure of imogolite in hydrogel by FE-SEM observations. Pepsin immobilized onto imogolite showed enzymatic activity after repeated reactions.

Effects of Rotary Inertia and Shear Deformation on Nonlinear Free Vibration of Microbeams

Asghar Ramezani、Aria Alasty、Javad Akbari2006-01-14Journal of vibration and acoustics

In this paper, the large amplitude free vibration of a doubly clamped microbeam is considered. The effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia on the large amplitude vibration of the microbeam are investigated. To this end, first Hamilton’s principle is used in deriving the partial differential equation of the mic…
