On the nature of the Higgs (amplitude) mode in the coexisting superconducting and charge-density-wave state

Tommaso Cea、L. Benfatto2014-07-24arXiv (Cornell University)

We investigate the behavior of the Higgs (amplitude) mode when superconductivity emerges on a preexisting charge-density-wave state. We show that the weak overdamped square-root singularity of the amplitude fluctuations in a standard BCS superconductor is converted in a sharp, undamped power-law divergence in the coex…

Atomic-scale pathway of early-stage precipitation in Al-Mg-Si alloys

Vahid Fallah、Andreas Korinek、Nana Ofori-Opoku 等 7 位作者2014-07-24arXiv (Cornell University)

Strengthening in age-hardenable alloys is mainly achieved through nano-scale precipitates whose formation paths from the atomic-scale, solute-enriched entities are rarely analyzed and understood in a directly-verifiable way. Here, we discover a pathway for the earliest-stage precipitation in Al-Mg-Si alloys: solute cl…
