Direct Preparation of Nanoporous Carbon by Nanocasting

Bao‐Hang Han、Wuzong Zhou、Abdelhamid Sayari2003-03-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

Nanoporous carbon with narrow pore size distribution was prepared via a nanocasting technique by direct carbonization of cyclodextrin-silica organic-inorganic hybrid composite. The obtained carbon exhibited very high BET surface area and high pore volume.

Sulfonated phthalocyanines: aggregation and singlet oxygen quantum yield in aqueous solutions

Nina A. Kuznetsova、N. S. Gretsova、Valentina M. Derkacheva 等 5 位作者2003-03-01Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines

The influence of sulfonation degree (n) and central atom nature on singlet oxygen quantum yield (Φ Δ ) were studied for a series of sulfonated phthalocyanine metal complexes MPcS n mix . It was found that in DMSO, where the studied dyes exist as monomers, Φ Δ values are independent of number and position of the sulfog…

Superelasticity in high-temperature Ni–Mn–Ga alloys

V. A. Chernenko、Victor A. L’vov、J. Pons 等 4 位作者2003-03-01Journal of Applied Physics

The stress–strain behavior of two single crystalline Ni–Mn–Ga alloys with martensitic transformation temperatures above the Curie temperature has been studied during uniaxial compression along the [001] and [110] axes. The superelastic effect associated to the reversible stress-induced martensitic transformation has b…

Single-Molecule Magnets: Two-Electron Reduced Version of a Mn12 Complex and Environmental Influences on the Magnetization Relaxation of (PPh4)2[Mn12O12(O2CCHCl2)16(H2O)4]

Mónica Soler、Wolfgang Wernsdorfer、Khalil A. Abboud 等 7 位作者2003-03-01Journal of the American Chemical Society

The complex [Mn(12)O(12)(O(2)CCHCl(2))(16)(H(2)O)(4)] (2) in MeCN exhibits three quasi-reversible one-electron reduction processes at significantly higher potentials than [Mn(12)O(12)(O(2)CMe)(16)(H(2)O)(4)] (1). This has allowed the two-electron reduced version of 2 to be generated and isolated. Reaction of 2 with on…

Control of the Magnetic and Optical Properties in Molecular Compounds by Electrochemical, Photochemical and Chemical Methods

Osamu Sato、Shinya Hayami、Yasuaki Einaga 等 4 位作者2003-03-01Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan

Abstract The electrochemical, photochemical and chemical control of the magnetic properties in molecular compounds is described. The preparation of various thin films of CrCr and FeFe Prussian blue on a conducting electrode allowed us to control the magnetic properties by varying the oxidation state of the component m…

Acid−Base Equilibria of Weak Polyelectrolytes in Multilayer Thin Films

Susan E. Burke、Christopher J. Barrett2003-03-01Langmuir

In this paper, we report on the local apparent dissociation constants of poly(acrylic acid) and poly(allylamine hydrochloride) incorporated in polyelectrolyte multilayer thin films. We assembled 10 polyelectrolyte layers on colloidal silica by the sequential electrostatic adsorption of the polyacid and polybase from a…

Hydration of portland cement, natural zeolite mortar in water and sulphate solution

I. Janotka、S. C. Mojumdar2003-03-01Materiales de Construccion

The objective of this paper is to characterise sulphate resistance of mortars made from ordinary Portland cement ( PC ) and Portland-pozzolan cement with 35 wt.% of zeolite addition (zeolite-blended cement-ZBC ). Mortars with two different cement types were tested in water and 5% sodium sulphate solution for 720 days.…

Hydric properties of some iberian ornamental granites with different superficial finishes: a petrophysical interpretation

A. Rojo、F. J. Alonso、R. M. Esbert2003-03-01Materiales de Construccion

Some physical properties of three ornamental granites with different superficial finishes (polished, sawn and flamed) were quantified by standard tests. These granites are commercially known as Rosa Porrino, Rosavel and Blanco Alcazar. The determined properties were: density, open porosity, water absorption, capillari…

Evaluation of bricks durability using destructive and nondestructive methods (DT and NDT)

G. Cultrone、M. J. de la Torre、E. Sebastián 等 4 位作者2003-03-01Materiales de Construccion

We have studied the physical-mechanical behaviour of solid bricks treated with consolidants and/or water-repellents in accelerated aging tests to determine their durability. The bricks were manufactured with a quartz-rich clay lacking in carbonates to which was added small amounts of different additives (calcite, dolo…

Degradation of wall paints due to sodium sulphate and sodium chloride crystallization

T. Díaz Gonçalves2003-03-01Materiales de Construccion

A test method for evaluating wall paints behaviour to soluble salts crystallization was developed at LNEC. in the present paper, a recent set of tests is described and discussed. The major objectives were: analysing and comparing the behaviour of a common emulsion ("plastic") paint and a silicate-based paint; observin…

Effect of three natural pozzolans in portland cement hydration

V. Rahhal、R. Talero2003-03-01Materiales de Construccion

Natural pozzolans have been used since ancient times and continues to be used today. The chemistry and morphological composition of natural pozzolans and their particle size distribution allows classifying them as more or less reactive pozzolan. In this research several techniques have been used to study the influence…

Extraction and characterization of collagen with or without telopeptides from chicken skin

Simon Cliché、Jean Amiot、C. Avezard 等 4 位作者2003-03-01Poultry Science

Poultry by-products are not often processed into high-value products. Rather than being transformed into meal for animal feed, a large quantity of chicken skin could be used to produce collagen, which is valued for its unique functional properties. The purpose of this research project was to extract and characterize c…

Petrophysical characteristics of the sandstones used in the construction of the Monumental Heritage of Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca. Spain

M. J. Varas、E. Molina、M. A. Vicente2003-03-01Materiales de Construccion

Knowledge of the petrophysical characteristics of stones used in construction is evidently advantageous in the sense that it can help avoid wasting time and future disappointments when attempting to assess the results both in restoration work and in actual construction work. However, if the material used is sandstone,…

Kunimitsu Morishige、Hiroshi Iwasaki2003-03-01Langmuir

To examine the freezing and melting behavior of water in partially filled pores of porous silica, we performed X-ray diffraction measurements of water confined inside the cylindrical pores of SBA-15 with a pore radius of 3.9 nm as a function of temperature and pore filling. The freezing temperature increased continuou…
