Perumal Devaraji、Naveen K. Sathu、Chinnakonda S. Gopinath2014-07-15ACS Catalysis

A potential photocatalyst with 2 atom % vanadium incorporated into the lattice of disordered mesoporous titania, Ti 0.98 V 0.02 O 2, (TV2) was synthesized. Au was deposited on TV2 (Au/TV2) through a photodeposition method. Structural, microscopy, and spectroscopy techniques support the incorporation of vanadium into t…

Diffusion of oxygen in amorphous Al2O3, Ta2O5, and Nb2O5

Ryusuke Nakamura、Takeo Toda、Shigeki Tsukui 等 7 位作者2014-07-15Journal of Applied Physics

The self-diffusivity of oxygen in amorphous Al2O3 (a-Al2O3), a-Ta2O5, and a-Nb2O5 was investigated along with structural analysis in terms of pair distribution function (PDF). The low activation energy, ∼1.2 eV, for diffusion in the oxides suggests a single atomic jump of oxygen ions mediated via vacancy-like defects.…

In this paper, we systematically investigate three different routes of synthesizing 2% Na-doped PbTe after melting the elements: (i) quenching followed by hot-pressing (QH), (ii) annealing followed by hot-pressing, and (iii) quenching and annealing followed by hot-pressing. We found that the thermoelectric figure of m…

Atomic Layer Deposition of a High- k Dielectric on MoS2 Using Trimethylaluminum and Ozone

Lanxia Cheng、Xiaoye Qin、Antonio T. Lucero 等 8 位作者2014-07-15ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

We present an Al2O3 dielectric layer on molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), deposited using atomic layer deposition (ALD) with ozone/trimethylaluminum (TMA) and water/TMA as precursors. The results of atomic force microscopy and low-energy ion scattering spectroscopy show that using TMA and ozone as precursors leads to the f…

Electrical Transport Properties of Polycrystalline Monolayer Molybdenum Disulfide

Sina Najmaei、Matin Amani、Matthew L. Chin 等 9 位作者2014-07-15ACS Nano

Semiconducting MoS2 monolayers have shown many promising electrical properties, and the inevitable polycrystallinity in synthetic, large-area films renders understanding the effect of structural defects, such as grain boundaries (GBs, or line-defects in two-dimensional materials), essential. In this work, we first exa…

Reversible Hydrogel–Solution System of Silk with High Beta-Sheet Content

Shumeng Bai、Xiuli Zhang、Qiang Lü 等 8 位作者2014-07-15Biomacromolecules

Silkworm silk has been widely used as a textile fiber, as biomaterials and in optically functional materials due to its extraordinary properties. The β-sheet-rich natural nanofiber units of about 10-50 nm in diameter are often considered the origin of these properties, yet it remains unclear how silk self-assembles in…
