In order to obtain detailed insights into the physicochemical mechanism of DNA damage induction in terms of photoabsorption modes, we have prepared thin DNA films of closed circular plasmid (pUC18) on a cover slip without any additives. Using this film, we have performed preliminary experiments by exposing to soft X-r…

Guiding of 3-keV Ne7+ through untilted nanocapillaries in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has been measured. The fraction of the transmitted ions is found to decrease with increasing charge insertion into the capillaries. This blocking effect is shown to be strongly dependent on the capillary density.

A model describing charge transport in disordered ambipolar all-organic-ferroelectric field-effect transistors (AoFeFETs) is proposed by examining the interaction between semiconductor charge and ferroelectric polarization. A density dependent variable-range hopping charge transport in ambipolar organic semiconductors…

Direct measurements of the photoelectrons or Auger electrons associated with inner shell ionization of positively charged ions are extremely difficult and rarely realized. We use here an alternative method to simulate such measurements, based on core-valence double photoionization of the neutral species. As an example…

In this work, nano-hardness of the ferritic/martensitic (F/M) steel T91 caused by self-ion irradiation has been studied. The samples were irradiated with 3.25 MeV Fe 13+ ions to different doses at different implantation temperatures. The results of nano-indentation measurement show that the hardness of the samples inc…

We develop and present the universal functional formula, depending on the incident energy and the scattering angle, of the atomic angular differential elastic cross sections for hydrogen target based on the method of least squares. The results of the universal fitting function are in excellent agreement with the resul…

The single and double ionization of C 60 in gas phase has been studied by (e,2e) and (γ,2e) experiments. Both the energy distribution of the singly and doubly charged ions and the coincidence angular correlation have been measured. The experimental results have been compared with calculations explicitly accounting for…

The electron emission from W surface induced by Ne q + has been measured. For the same charge state, the electron yield gradually increases with the projectile velocity. Meanwhile, the effect of the potential energy of projectile has been found obviously. Our results give the critical condition for "trampoline effect".

A photon-ion merged beam endstation has been set up at the variable polarization XUV-beamline P04 of PETRA III in Hamburg. In a commissioning experiment first results could be obtained for multiple photoionization of Xe q+ ions ( q = 1,2,..,5) at photon energies around the 3d ionization threshold.

Spin asymmetries for elastic and inelastic scattering of electrons from thallium are presented. Thallium is a heavy target (Z = 81) and the spin asymmetries can be caused by relativistic effects (spin-orbit interactions) in addition to exchange effects.
