Observed frustration in confined block copolymers

P. Lambooy、Thomas P. Russell、G. J. Kellogg 等 6 位作者1994-05-02Physical Review Letters

Symmetric diblock copolymers confined between two solid surfaces were studied by neutron reflectivity. A multilayered morphology with an integral number of layers oriented parallel to the solid interfaces was found in all cases. The period of the confined multilayers deviated from the bulk period in a cyclic manner as…

Structural Relaxation of Poly(methyl methacrylate)

I. Avramov、Ts. Vassilev1994-05-01Polymers and Polymer Composites

The kinetics of structural, relaxation of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is studied and it is shown that the activation energy of the process depends on the structural temperature T f . A new method is proposed allowing the measurement experimentally of how the activation energy decreases with increasing T f . The d…

Effects of UO2/Zircaloy-4 Mole Ratios on Reaction of UO2Fuel with Molten Zircaloy-4

Yong Kyoon Mok、Young Ku Yoon1994-05-01Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology

Dissolution of UO2 crucibles by molten Zircaloy-4 (Zry) was investigated in the temperature range of 2,223-2,373 K and for specimens having UO2/Zry mole ratios between 7 and 18.2. The uranium concentration in the Zry melt rapidly increased during initial reaction time and approached saturated values, depending on reac…

Abstract Farblose Einkristalle von K 6 [Al 2 O 6 ] wurden aus innigen Gemengen von KAlO 2 und K 2 O erhalten (550°C, 90 d). Die Strukturaufklärung (Vierkreisdiffraktometer, MoK α , 742 I o (hkl), R = 2,2%, R w = 2,1%) bestätigt die Raumgruppe C2/m mit Z = 2; a = 698,25 pm, b = 1 103,54 pm, c = 646,49 pm, β = 102,49°.…

Modifications of the dielectric and thermal properties of vulcanized natural rubber due to iodine doping

M. D. da Silva、L. C. M. Miranda1994-05-01Physical review. B, Condensed matter

The marked changes in the dielectric and thermal properties of vulcanized cis-1,4-polyisoprene due to different iodine doping levels are investigated. The results show strong evidences of formation of conjugated sequences of unsaturated double bonds in the vulcanized polyisoprene backbone, through visible and infrared…

Friction Welding of Aluminum to Ceramics

John A. Fernie1994-05-01Materials and Manufacturing Processes

This paper addresses the feasibility of friction welding a:s an approach to join aluminum to ceramics. Potential advantages include the localised heating below the melting point of the parent materials, and the short time required to produce the bond. Metal / ceramic combinations examined include aluminum / silicon ni…

Abstract X‐ray absorption measurements in the low (pseudo‐rutile) and high (rutile) temperature phases of VO 2 are described. Investigations are made versus temperature and polarization. The analysis of the results leads to conclusions concerning the scattering mechanisms at the origin of the pre‐edge, the edge, and t…

Debris Cloud Material Characterization for Hypervelocity Impacts of Single- and Multi-Material Projectiles on Thin Target Plates

William P. Schonberg1994-05-01Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC)

The response of a target to a KEW impact can be said to consist of 'local' and 'global' phenomena. For KEW impacts, damage associated with local response occurs very quickly and is limited to a volume immediately adjacent to the impact site. Global response can refer to any one of a number of phenomena that occur over…

Slice Compression Tests Versus Fiber Push-In Tests

Chun‐Hway Hsueh1994-05-01Journal of Composite Materials

Both the fiber push-in and the slice compression tests have been used to evaluate the interfacial properties of fiber-reinforced ceramic composites. Mechanics of sliding at the fiber-matrix interface obtained with these two tests are compared in the present study. While the interfacial radial stress induced by Poisson…

Synthesis, spectroscopic properties, and tautomerism of mono‐meso‐substituted octamethylporphyrins

Ming Li、Yiming Yao、Jianzhong Zou 等 5 位作者1994-05-01Chinese Journal of Chemistry

Abstract The synthesis spectroscopic properties and tautomerism of four novel mono ‐meso substituted(R)‐octamethylporphyrins (R= o ‐hydroxybenzyl, p ‐aminobenzyl, 4‐pyridinyl, and ferrocenyl) were investigated. It was found that the porphyrins 2 , 3 could be directly prepared in good yields via the coupling reaction o…

Al-Zr fluoride glass for Ho^3+-Yb^3+ green upconversion

A. Shikida、H. Yanagita、H. Toratani1994-05-01Journal of the Optical Society of America B

A fluoroaluminozirconate glass was compared with a fluorozirconate and a fluoroaluminate glass as a host material for upconversion emissions in a Ho3+–Yb3+-codoped system. The green emission of 543 nm is 50% stronger in fluoroaluminozirconate than in fluorozirconate. This is because the emission is primarily governed…

<title>Monte Carlo model for SEM linewidth metrology</title>

Jeremiah R. Lowney、Michael T. Postek、András Vládar1994-05-01Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE

A scanning electron microscope (SEM) can be used to measure the dimensions of the microlithographic features of integrated circuits. However, without a good model of the electron-beam/specimen interaction, accurate edge location cannot be obtained. A Monte Carlo code has been developed to model the interaction of an e…

Surface-Enhanced Resonance Raman Studies of Spiropyrans (Bips and Derivatives)

Siegfried Schneider、Harald Grau、Joachim Ringer1994-05-01Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals/Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals

The merocyanine form of BIPS and three of its nitro derivatives were studied by surface—enhanced Raman spectroscopy. It was found that in case of the nitro derivates, the SERS spectra originated from the unprotonated open merocyanine forms, even if the solution was acidified. In case of 6-nitro BIPS, there exist two e…

Planar growth of a solid germ of infinitesimal initial thickness from an undercooled melt is addressed within a continuum model with linear interfacial kinetics. For this problem, we present an analytic solution that describes the global features of the process beyond the initial and long-time limits. In particular, i…

J[Odot]ZEF Mr[Odot]Z、R. Jakubas1994-05-01Ferroelectrics Letters Section

(CH3NH3)3Sb2Br9 crystals were studied by pyroelectric method in the temperature range 10 – 200 K. Pyroelectric measurements revealed reversal spontaneous polarization below 141 K along the a-axis. The optical observations showed that MABA possesses ferroelastic domains in all low temperature phases.
