Absence of anomalous interactions in the quantum theory of constrained charged particles in presence of electrical currents

Carmine Ortix、Jeroen van den Brink2010-12-22arXiv

The experimental progress in synthesizing low-dimensional nanostructures where carriers are confined to bent surfaces has boosted the interest in the theory of quantum mechanics on curved two-dimensional manifolds. It was recently asserted that constrained electrically charged particles couple to a term linear in A_3…

We discuss problem of Rashba field in bulk GaN and in GaN/AlGaN two-dimensional electron gas, basing on results of X-band microwave resonance experiments. We point at large difference in spin-orbit coupling between bulk material and heterostructures. We observe coupled plasmon-cyclotron resonance from the two-dimensio…

Properties of metal-insulator transition and electron spin relaxation in GaN:Si

A. Wolos、Z. Wilamowski、M. Piersa 等 7 位作者2010-12-22arXiv

We investigate properties of doping-induced metal-insulator transition in GaN:Si by means of electron spin resonance and Hall effect. While increasing the doping concentration, Si-related bands are formed below the bottom of the GaN conduction band. The D0 band of single-occupied Si donor sites is centered 27 meV belo…

Bifunctionalized Mesoporous Materials with Site‐Separated Brønsted Acids and Bases: Catalyst for a Two‐Step Reaction Sequence

Yulin Huang、Shu Xu、Victor S.‐Y. Lin2010-12-22Angewandte Chemie International Edition

Peaceful coexistence: Brønsted acids and bases were attached to different surfaces of a mesoporous silica nanoparticle. The internal surface was functionalized by using co-condensation, and postsynthesis grafting was used to functionalize the external surface. A two-step reaction sequence that cannot proceed with an a…

Role of linear and cubic terms for the drift-induced Dresselhaus spin-orbit splitting in a two-dimensional electron gas

M. Studer、M. P. Walser、S. Baer 等 9 位作者2010-12-22arXiv

The Dresselhaus spin-orbit interaction (SOI) of a series of two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) hosted in GaAs/AlGaAs and InGaAs/GaAs (001) quantum wells (QWs) is measured by monitoring the precession frequency of the spins as a function of an in-plane electric field. The measured spin-orbit-induced spin-splitting…

Carbon-based Materials as Key-enabler for More Than Moore

Franz Kreupl2010-12-22arXiv

Carbon-based materials like nanotubes and graphene are heavily investigated as future CMOS-like devices and in interconnect applications. While much of the interest has been devoted to the device aspects in competition to conventional CMOS transistors, the paper here will focus on some less known applications of carbo…

Nanomechanics of a screw dislocation in a functionally graded material using the theory of gradient elasticity

Kamyar Davoudi、Hossein Davoudi、Elias Aifantis2010-12-22arXiv

The modest aim of this short article is to provide some new results for a screw dislocation in a functionally graded material within the theory of gradient elasticity. These results, based on a displacement formulation and the Fourier transform technique, extends earlier findings (Lazar, M., 2007. On a screw dislocati…

Modified graphene with small BN domain: an effective method for band gap opening

X. F. Fan、Jer-Lai Kuo、Z. X. Shen2010-12-22arXiv

BN domains are easy to form in the basal plane of graphene due to phase separation. With first-principles DFT calculations, it is demonstrated theoretically that the band gap of graphene can be opened effectively around K (or K') points by doping the small BN domains. It is also found that the random doping with B or…

Light‐Harvesting Hybrid Hydrogels: Energy‐Transfer‐Induced Amplified Fluorescence in Noncovalently Assembled Chromophore–Organoclay Composites

K. Venkata Rao、K. K. R. Datta、Muthusamy Eswaramoorthy 等 4 位作者2010-12-22Angewandte Chemie International Edition

The noncovalent self-assembly of chromophores in an organoclay template results in the formation of fluorescent hybrid hydrogels and films. These clay–dye hybrids act as novel supramolecular scaffolds for light-harvesting as the aminoclay (AC) templates the spatial organization of donor and acceptor molecules to promo…
