Simulation of Surface-Potential Driven ORR Kinetics on SOFC Cathode with Parallel Reaction Pathways

Mingyang Gong、Randall Gemmen、David S. Mebane 等 5 位作者2014-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

In this research, the polarization behavior and kinetic pathways of an SOFC cathode have been investigated with a 1-D continuum model incorporating material physical properties and surface potential effects into a multi-step ORR kinetic formalism. It is found that (1) Two different types of 3PB-to-2PB pathway transiti…

Comparative toxicity of bimetallic Fe nanoparticles toward Escherichia coli: mechanism and environmental implications

Eun‐Ju Kim、Thao Le Thanh、Yoon‐Seok Chang2014-01-01Environmental Science Nano

Herein, we assessed the potential toxicities of different bimetallic Fe nanoparticles (Fe/Pd, Fe/Cu, Fe/Ni, and Fe/Pt) toward E. coli and compared them with that of unmodified Fe. The results showed that Fe/Cu was the most toxic followed by Fe, Fe/Ni, Fe/Pt, and Fe/Pd nanoparticles in descending order.

Plasmon spectroscopy of small indium–silver clusters: monitoring the indium shell oxidation

E. Cottancin、Cyril Langlois、J. Lermé 等 6 位作者2014-01-01Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics

Owing to the very different electrovalences of indium and silver, nanoparticles made of these elements are among the simplest examples of hybrid plasmonic systems retaining a full metallic character. The optical properties of small indium-silver clusters are investigated here for the first time in relation to their st…

Novel electromechanical actuation based on a spongy graphene paper

Ying Hu、Tian Lan、Guan Wu 等 6 位作者2014-01-01Chemical Communications

A spongy graphene paper with an inside foldable corrugated structure is fabricated by electrothermal reduction of the oxygen-containing groups inside an RGO paper. Reversible macroscopical length contraction of the spongy graphene paper with a strain of 2.4% under 10 V voltage is exhibited, mostly attributed to the de…

Physicochemical characterization of chitin and chitosan obtained from resting eggs of Ceriodaphnia quadrangula (Branchiopoda: Cladocera: Daphniidae)

Murat Kaya、Ihsan Saman、Ayfer Menteş 等 6 位作者2014-01-01Journal of Crustacean Biology

Chitin and chitosan were produced from the structures of the resting eggs of Ceriodaphnia quadrangula (Müller, 1785), of which tons are naturally produced in a dammed lake. On a dry weight basis, |$16{\rm{ - }}17\% $| chitin and |$11\% $| chitosan were extracted from the resting egg structures. The degree of deacetyla…

Interfacial Studies of Li-Ion Battery Cathodes Using In Situ Electrochemical Quartz Microbalance with Dissipation

Zhenzhen Yang、Brian J. Ingram、Lynn Trahey2014-01-01Journal of The Electrochemical Society

In situ Electrochemical Quartz Microbalance with Dissipation (EQCM-D) was employed to investigate the initial stage of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer formation on bare aluminum electrodes and cathode-coated Al electrodes for lithium-ion battery (LIB) applications. EQCM reveals the SEI layer forms spontaneous…

Cu–Ni nanoparticle-decorated graphene based photodetector

Anil Kumar、Sudhir Husale、Amit Srivastava 等 5 位作者2014-01-01Nanoscale

We report a simple and straight forward approach for the synthesis of Cu-Ni graphene hybrid nano-composites. These nano-composites have been characterized using AFM, XRD, FTIR spectroscopy and HRTEM. The characterization data clearly shows uniform decoration of Cu-Ni nanoparticles on graphene layers. A thin film of th…

High-performance two-photon absorption luminophores: large action cross sections, free from fluorescence quenching and tunable emission of efficient non-doped organic light-emitting diodes

Bingjia Xu、Jiajun He、Yang Liu 等 13 位作者2014-01-01Journal of Materials Chemistry C

Two novel quadrupolar D–π–D type two-photon absorption (2PA) luminophores PA2F4H8E8 and AnA2F4H8E8 were synthesized by Wittig–Horner reaction in high yields. By using distyrylbenzene as the π-bridge center, PA2F4H8E8 shows two-photon absorption aggregation-induced emission enhancement (2PA-AIEE) and exhibits exception…
