Ni2MnGa bulk specimen has a Heusler-type crystal structure and is ferromagnetic. The cubic structure transforms to a tetragonal structure through the martensitic transformation during cooling. In this study, Ni2MnGa thin films were deposited on a PVA substrate by the sputtering method using a high frequency magnetron…

Coatings of room-temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber (SIR) are used increasingly on outdoor HV porcelain and glass insulators and bushings when subjected to heavy pollution. An important property of the RTV-SIR coating is its ability to restore the hydrophobicity of the surface after a layer of contamination…

Chitosan has wide-ranging applications as a biomaterial, but its stability in storage is not widely known. The objective of this study was to evaluate the storage stability of films prepared from chitosan of 77% deacetylation. Both the neutralized and acetate films were evaluated, as chitosan salts offer the advantage…

In order to obtain composites of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) encapsulated by polystyrene (PS), soapless polymerization of styrene (S) in aqueous phase in the presence of CaCO3 was carried out. Influences on the encapsulation and on monomer conversion were studied. Results showed that monomer conversion higher than 52% c…

The synthesis, characterization and spectral properties of six new meso-aryl core modified sapphyrins are described. An efficient approach involving an acid catalyzed condensation of bithiophene diol 1 and modified tripyrranes 2a–2e allows preparation of the desired meso-aryl sapphyrins in 16–36% yield. The product di…

Power generation characteristics of fuel cells was greatly improved by using La0.8Sr0.2Ga0.8Mg0.115Co0.085O3 as electrolyte. In particular, the maximum power density attained a value of 1.53 and 0.50 W cm–2 at 1073 and 873 K, respectively, in an H2–O2 cell when the thickness of electrolyte was 0.18 mm.
