Stress relaxation can strongly influence the shape-memory capability of polymers. Recently a modified Maxwell-Wiechert model comprising two Maxwell units and a single spring unit in parallel has been introduced to successfully describe the shape recovery characteristics of amorphous polyether urethanes. In this work w…

Effects of microbubbles in precoat filtration

Hikaru Ubukata、Koichi Yagishita、Tominori Kitagawa 等 6 位作者2014-01-01OpenAlex

When the diameter of a microscopic bubble is less than 50 μm, it is referred to as microbubble (MB). The properties of MB are different from those of bubbles whose diameter is more than 50 μm. For instance, MB has the negatively charged surface and the self-pressurization effect. Because of these properties of MB, it…

Secondary Recrystallization in Metals: Approach by Solid-State Wetting Hyung-Seok Shim and Nong-Moon Hwang

Hyung-Seok Shim、Nong‐Moon Hwang2014-01-01

The mystery of Goss selective abnormal grain growth (AGG) in Fe-3%Si steel has long remained unsolved since its discovery by Goss in 1933. Similarly, the mechanism of secondary recrystallization, which is commonly observed in many metallic systems, has long been a puzzle. Here, attempts to solve this puzzle are review…

Multiscale computational modelling and analysis for cancer invasion: exploring the role of matrix-degrading enzymes and adhesion in tumour progression (Keynote Speaker Talk)

Dumitru Trucu2014-01-01Discovery Research Portal (University of Dundee)

Most processes in biology and medicine occur over different but inter-connected spatial and temporal scales – from genes to cells to tissues to organs to populations. Known as one of the “hallmarks of cancer”, cancer invasion is a complex “multi-scale” phenomenon involving many inter-related genetic, biochemical and c…

We characterize the current-carrying capacity (CCC), or ampacity, of highly-conductive, light, and strong carbon nanotube (CNT) fibers by measuring their failure current density (FCD) and continuous current rating (CCR) values. We show, both experimentally and theoretically, that the CCC of these fibers is determined…
