(Inorganic Nanofiber/Enzyme) Hybrid Hydrogel: Preparation, Characterization, and Enzymatic Activity of Imogolite/Pepsin Conjugate

Nozomi Inoue、Hideyuki Otsuka、Shin-Ichiro Wada 等 4 位作者2006-01-14Chemistry Letters

Abstract The hybrid hydrogel composed of tubular aluminosilicate nanofiber, “imogolite,” and pepsin was prepared in a simple manner. We confirmed the formation of a network structure of imogolite in hydrogel by FE-SEM observations. Pepsin immobilized onto imogolite showed enzymatic activity after repeated reactions.

Asghar Ramezani、Aria Alasty、Javad Akbari2006-01-14Journal of vibration and acoustics

In this paper, the large amplitude free vibration of a doubly clamped microbeam is considered. The effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia on the large amplitude vibration of the microbeam are investigated. To this end, first Hamilton’s principle is used in deriving the partial differential equation of the mic…

Photophysical Effects between Spirobenzopyran−Methyl methacrylate-Functionalized Colloidal Particles

Nelson S. Bell、Martin Piech2006-01-14Langmuir

Colloidal particles were derivatized with end-grafted polymethylmethacrylate polymer brushes containing varying concentrations of spirobenzopyran photochromic molecules. The polymers were grown from initiator-functionalized silica particles by an atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). These core-shell colloids f…

Surface-Pressure Isotherms of Monolayers Formed by Microsize and Nanosize Particles

V. B. Fainerman、V.I. Kovalchuk、E.H Lucassen-Reynders 等 9 位作者2006-01-14Langmuir

The thermodynamic model of a 2D solution developed earlier for protein monolayers at liquid interfaces is generalized for monolayers composed of micro- and nanoparticles. Surface pressure isotherms of particle monolayers published in the literature for a wide range of particles sizes (between 75 microm and 7.5 nm) are…

Uniform Directional Alignment of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Viscous Polymer Flow

Erin Camponeschi、Bill Florkowski、Richard Vance 等 6 位作者2006-01-14Langmuir

In this work, we probed the effects of shear flow on the alignment of dispersed single-walled carbon nanotubes in polymer solutions. Two different systems were compared: Single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed using an anionic surfactant and single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed using an anionic surfactant and a w…

Light-Harvesting Energy Transfer and Subsequent Electron Transfer of Cationic Porphyrin Complexes on Clay Surfaces

Shinsuke Takagi、Miharu Eguchi、Donald A. Tryk 等 4 位作者2006-01-14Langmuir

A novel energy-transfer system involving nonaggregated cationic porphyrins adsorbed on an anionic-type clay surface and the electron-transfer reaction that occurs after light harvesting are described. In the clay-porphyrin complexes, photochemical energy transfer from excited singlet zinc porphyrins to free-base porph…

Surface Plasmon Resonance of Silver Nanoparticles on Vanadium Dioxide

Gang Xu、Yong Chen、Masato Tazawa 等 4 位作者2006-01-14The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

The localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectrum of silver nanoparticles fabricated on a thermochromatic film, vanadium dioxide (VO2), is studied in this paper. Owing to the temperature-dependent dielectric function of VO2, the SPR band dramatically exhibits temperature dependence in the range of 30-80 degrees C…

pH Controlled Permeability of Lipid/Protein Biomimetic Microcapsules

Zhihua An、Helmuth Möhwald、Junbai Li2006-01-14Biomacromolecules

The permeability of lipid and protein microcapsules fabricated by alternating adsorption of human serum albumin (HSA) and L-alpha-dimyristoylphosphatidic acid (DMPA) on a template and subsequent removal of the core is studied as a function of pH value and supplementary layers. The capsules were permeable for macromole…

Herein we report on the intercalation of polyaniline, poly(2-ethylaniline), and poly(2-propylaniline) into graphite oxide. This was achieved by taking advantage of the exfoliation/reconstruction properties of the layered host. The resulting intercalates were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimet…

Cyanobacterial Mats and Stromatolites

Lucas J. Stal2006-01-14Kluwer Academic Publishers eBooks

Cyanobacteria are often the key organisms in microbial mats. They form dense micrometer-scale communities in which the full plethora of microbial metabolism can be present. Such mats are therefore excellent model systems and because of their analogy with Precambrian stromatolites they are also attractive for evolution…

Inherent features in the growth of perylene crystals on an oil substrate

Xiangdong Liu、Matthias Wuttig2006-01-13Physical Review B
