Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy of molybdenum and molybdenum monoxide anions

Robert F. Gunion、St. J. Dixon-Warren、W. C. Lineberger 等 4 位作者1996-02-01The Journal of Chemical Physics

The 351 nm photoelectron spectra of Mo− and MoO− have been measured. The electron affinity of atomic molybdenum is 0.748(2) eV and that of molybdenum monoxide is 1.290(6) eV. The term energies of several MoO electronic states not previously observed are obtained and compared with ab initio predictions. The ground stat…

Abstract Rectangular plates were injection molded from two grades of commercial polypropylene (PP) differing in the molar mass distribution. The mold was mechanically sealed when a desired pressure p i ,max (up to 1560 bar) was reached. Samples were taken from each plate at different distances from the gate and were i…

Further stabilization of 3-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase of an extreme thermophile, Thermus thermophilus, by a suppressor mutation method

Takashi Kotsuka、Shin‐ichi Akanuma、M Tomuro 等 5 位作者1996-02-01Journal of Bacteriology

We succeeded in further improvement of the stability of 3-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase (IPMDH) from an extreme thermophile, Thermus thermophilus, by a suppressor mutation method. We previously constructed a chimeric IPMDH consisting of portions of thermophile and mesophile enzymes. The chimeric enzyme is less thermos…

Synthesis of Yttrium Aluminum Garnet from Yttrium and Aluminum Isobutyrate Precursors

Yin Liu、Zhi‐Fan Zhang、Bruce H. King 等 5 位作者1996-02-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

Mixtures of yttrium and aluminum isobutyrates, M(O 2 CCHMe 2 ) 3 = M(O 2 CiPr) 3 (M = Y or Al), were examined as precursors for processing yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG, A1 5 Y 3 O 12 ). Both precursors were synthesized by reacting the respective metal with isobutyric acid. The individual compounds and the 5Al(O 2 CiPr…

Nucleation‐ or Growth‐Controlled Orientation Development in Chemically Derived Ferroelectric Lead Zirconate Titanate (Pb(Zr x Ti 1− x )O 3 , x = 0.4) Thin Films

Yimin Liu、Pradeep P. Phulé1996-02-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The profound influence of low‐temperature processing steps, hitherto assumed benign from the viewpoint of texture development, is reported. On inclusion of a 400°C step and further heat treatment at 700°C, PZT (40/60) sol‐gel thin films with a strong (111) texture were obtained. When the 400°C step was excluded, the f…

Structural study on poly(ether ether ketone ketone)‐poly(ether biphenyl ether ketone ketone) copolymers

Hongfang Zhang、Baoquan Yang、Zhishen Mo 等 5 位作者1996-02-01Macromolecular Rapid Communications

Abstract Structures of poly(ether ether ketone ketone)‐poly(ether biphenyl ether ketone ketone) copolymers were studied by using small angle X‐ray scattering and the one‐dimensional electron density correlation function method. The results revealed that structures of the aggregated state of the copolymers depend close…

Matrix Polycondensation: A New Route to Multicomponent Polymer System with Designed Properties

A. G. Kuznezov、В. А. Васнев、I.A. Gribova 等 6 位作者1996-02-01International Journal of Polymeric Materials

The regularities of polyesterification in the presence of a filler as a heterogeneous matrix were considered. The filler introduced into the reaction system before polycondensation process influenced not only the reaction kinetics but also the resulting properties of polymer composites produced. The composites obtaine…

Effect of Nozzle Geometry on Air-Jet Texturing Performance

Serkan Bılgın、H. K. Versteeg、Memiş Acar1996-02-01Textile Research Journal

This paper systematically investigates the effect of a number of geometric parameters on the texturing performance of air-jet texturing nozzles. In order to facilitate the research, an air-jet texturing nozzle with a rectangular cross section has been developed. The texturing performance of the nozzles is assessed by…

A novel method to prepare high‐resistivity polymer composites

Chi‐Ming Chan1996-02-01Polymer Engineering and Science

Abstract A novel method was developed for the preparation of high‐resistivity conductive polymer composites reproducibly. The conventional method which involves the simple mixing of a conductive filler and a polymer usually produces a conductive polymer composite having a loading curve with a region in which the resis…

Coesite, a high-pressure ${\mathrm{SiO}}_{2}$ polymorph, becomes amorphous during isothermal annealing below the glass transition temperature, ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{g}}$, at one-bar pressure. Transmission electron microscopy was used to examine this fusion process (vitrification) below ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{g}}$. Th…

Hydrogen Absorption in Iron Exposed to Simulated Concrete Pore Solutions

R. S. Lillard、John R. Scully1996-02-01CORROSION

Safe cathodic protection (CP) limits are required for prestressed steel in concrete to avoid the risk of hydrogen embrittlement (HE). A CP protection potential more positive than the reversible hydrogen potential is one approach for avoidance of HE. However, it has been demonstrated in the literature that the steel te…

Side-chain liquid crystal copolymers containing nonmesogenic units: Dependence of the thermal behavior upon composition

Aileen A. Craig、Corrie T. Imrie1996-02-01Journal of Polymer Science Part A Polymer Chemistry

The reactivity ratios have been determined for a mesogenic/nonmesogenic comonomer system, namely 5-[4-(4′-methoxyphenyl)phenoxy]pentyl methacrylate/methyl methacrylate. The reactivity ratios were found to be equal and approximately unity. The copolymerization is, therefore, azeotropic and the resulting copolymers poss…
