Ralph H. Mutter、D. C. M. Dutoit、Tamás Mallát 等 5 位作者1995-01-01Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications

Amorphous, mesoporous titania–silica aerogels with high Ti dispersion, synthesised using a sol–gel process followed by semicontinuous extraction with supercritical CO2, are shown to be excellent catalysts for the epoxidation of bulky cyclic olefins.

Analysis of Relaxation Phenomena in Textile Fibres: Part I: Stress Relaxation

R. P. Nachane、V. Sundaram1995-01-01Journal of the Textile Institute

A considerable amount of work has been carried out on stress relaxation phenomenon in polymers, particularly, polymeric fibres. However, there is almost no published work available on a newly observed phenomenon, known as ‘Inverse Relaxation’. The theoretical work on stress relaxation carried out until now has been ba…

Experimental evidence for the divergence of a transport coefficient in a quasi-two-dimensional fluid

Binhua Lin、Stuart A. Rice、D. A. Weitz1995-01-01Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics

We report experimental evidence for the divergence of the collective diffusion coefficient in a quasi-two-dimensional fluid. The system studied is a monolayer of nearly monodisperse self-assembled disks of the diblock copolymer polystyrene-b-polymethylmethacrylate, supported in the air/water interface, and the method…

Bacterial Cellulose; as a New Material for Papermaking.

Nobuya Hioki、Yoshinori Hori、Kunihiko Watanabe 等 7 位作者1995-01-01JAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is produced by some strains of Acetobacter. The BC has unique network structure of fine fiber. The BC can be obtained with two typical methods, namely static and agitated culture. We have found some structural differences between these two types of BC. We, therefore, investigated the propertie…

Delayed neointimal healing of a fabric vascular prosthesis was investigated in an animal study focusing on the relationship between red thrombus, fibrinolysis, and endothelialization on the luminal surface. Fabric vascular prostheses were implanted into the descending aortas of 72 dogs. Fifty-nine grafts were explante…

The design of a new electrochromic display based on Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of the praseodymium bisphthalocyanine complex is reported. In situ UV-VIS spectra of the display show four colour changes, blue→green→yellowish→red, when a potential ranging from –2 to +2 V is applied. The device retains its colouration u…

Space charge in polyethylene/ionomer blends

Kwang S. Suh、D. H. Damon、John A. Tanaka1995-01-01IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation

Measurements of thermally stimulated currents were made on ionomer/polyethylene blends. The objective of this work was to study space charge formation in these materials. Two ionomers were compared; both ionomers contained methacrylic acid, neutralized by zinc in one and by sodium in the other. A large current peak ce…

Two types of trans-4-alkylcyclohexyl-substituted 2,3-difluorobiphenyls that exhibit quite high smectic C (Sc) phase stability are reported. In addition, the analogous trans-4-alkyl-2,2-difluorocyclohexyl-substituted 2,3-difluorobiphenyls are reported and these materials have much lower Sc character. A useful alternati…

X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopic Studies of Palladium Dispersed on Carbon Surfaces Modified by Ion Beams and Plasmatic Oxidation

Zdenĕk Bastl1995-01-01Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications

The effects of ion bombardment and r.f. plasma oxidation of graphite surfaces on subsequent growth and electronic properties of vacuum deposited palladium clusters have been investigated by methods of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Auger electron spectroscopy with X-ray excitation (XAES). Due to the signif…

The effect of grain size on the stored energy of cold work as a function of strain for polycrystalline nickel

Ian Baker、L. Liu、Durbadal Mandal1995-01-01Scripta Metallurgica et Materialia

It is well known that both the distribution and density of dislocations are affected by grain boundaries and that the stored energy of deformation is e function of the density of dislocations. Thus, the grain size affects the stored energy of deformation. In general, a fine grain-sized material has a higher dislocatio…
