Correction: Bioengineered 3D Human Kidney Tissue, a Platform for the Determination of Nephrotoxicity

Teresa M. DesRochers、Laura Suter‐Dick、Adrian Roth 等 4 位作者2013-10-24PLoS ONE

The staggering cost of bringing a drug to market coupled with the extremely high failure rate of prospective compounds in early phase clinical trials due to unexpected human toxicity makes it imperative that more relevant human models be developed to better predict drug toxicity. Drug-induced nephrotoxicity remains es…

Anomalous Hall effect as the response of the orbital momentum to the gradient of electrochemical potential

P. Středa2013-10-24Physical Review B

It is argued that the anomalous Hall conductivity of ferromagnetic systems is fully determined by the response of the orbital momentum given by the so-called free electron currents to the gradient of the electrochemical potential. It is shown that for perfect Bloch systems it coincides with the well-known expression i…

Skin and leather characteristics of hair-type goats reared in a hot-humid region

M. Salehi、Ahmad Bitaraf2013-10-24Journal of Livestock Science and Technologies

Skin and leather characteristics of hair-type goats were studied in relation to their sex and age, using 100 randomly-selected skin from goats reared in east west Iran. Mean weights of skin and leather were 859.2±35.2 and 357.4±16.2 g, and the length and width of leather ranged from 60 to 121 and 41 to 87 cm, respecti…

Carbon nanotube alignment driven rapid actuations

Yu‐Hsien Lin、Hsin‐Jung Tsai、Han-Chen Chang 等 6 位作者2013-10-24Nanotechnology

Suspended micro-beams made from aligned carbon nanotubes and parylene deflect reversibly in an ac field and the deflection rate is three orders of magnitude greater than those for existing devices. The direction of beam deflection is determined by the area moment of inertia and the actuation mechanism involves rapid a…
