Dielectric loss anomaly of BaBiO3

Seung‐Hoon Lee、Woo‐Hwan Jung、Jeong‐Ho Sohn 等 5 位作者1999-12-01Journal of Applied Physics

Dielectric properties of oxygen deficient BaBiO3−δ have been analyzed, and dielectric loss anomalies at 175 and 225 K were found, which were dependent on oxygen deficiency. The activation energies corresponding to the relaxation processes of dielectric anomalies at 175 and 225 K were 0.26 and 0.50 eV, respectively. Th…

Mechanical properties of recycled polymers

Francesco Paolo La Mantia1999-12-01Macromolecular Symposia

Abstract Modifications of structure and morphology of the polymers induced by the thermomechanical stress (or by the presence of water for some polymers) during reprocessing can cause a drastic deterioration of mechanical properties of the recycled material. The property ‐ reprocessing relationships are an important t…

Dislocations and disclinations in the gradient theory of elasticity

M. Yu. Gutkin、Elias C. Aifantis1999-12-01Physics of the Solid State

The results of application of gradient theory of elasticity to a description of elastic fields and dislocation and disclination energies are considered. The main achievement made in this approach is the removal of the classical singularities at defect lines and the possibility of describing short-range interactions be…

The effects of filler size on the properties of thermoplastic polyolefin blends

Tony L. Wong、Carol M. F. Barry、Stephen A. Orroth1999-12-01Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology

Abstract The effects of filler size on the properties of a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) blend were examined by using wollastonite and talc with particle sizes ranging from 1.2 to 40 μm. While addition of filler produced significant changes in the mechanical properties of the blend, filler size affected only impact s…

Electrodeposited Quantum Dots: Metastable Rocksalt CdSe Nanocrystals on {111} Gold Alloys

Yong Zhang、Gary Hodes、Israel Rubinstein 等 6 位作者1999-12-01Advanced Materials

Thin layers of epitaxial CdSe nanocrystals with rocksalt structure have been electrodeposited onto gold alloy films. The rocksalt phase does not normally exist for CdSe at ambient pressure, and its (meta)-stability is attributed to the strong interaction between CdSe and Cd–Au (since the phase is virtually absent for…

Carlo Meneghini、Alessandro F. Gualtieri、Cristina Siligardi1999-12-01Journal of Applied Crystallography

The structure of a CaO–SiO 2 –ZrO 2 -based glass ceramic has been investigated by X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption spectroscopy and differential anomalous scattering techniques as a function of the thermal treatment of the sample. The microstructure of the glass has been investigated at room temperature, before the…

Effects of Neutron Irradiation on the Mechanical Properties of Magnesium Aluminate Spinel Single Crystals and Polycrystals

Toyohiko Yano1999-12-01Journal of the American Ceramic Society

The effect of fast neutron irradiation on the mechanical properties of magnesium aluminate spinel single crystals and polycrystals, such as bending strength, fracture toughness, Young's modulus, and hardness, was summarized based on the reported data. Essentially, the changes in these properties are dependent on the n…

A Two Regime Orifice Flow Formula for Numerical Simulation

Asko Ellman、Robert Piché1999-12-01Journal of Dynamic Systems Measurement and Control

Because the conventional formula for turbulent orifice flow rate has an infinite derivative when the pressure difference is zero, ODE solvers may fail during numerical simulation of fluid power circuits. To remedy this, a two-regime orifice flow formula is proposed in which an empirical polynomial laminar flow functio…

The (pyridylazo)oxime ligand (C(5)H(4)N)N=NC(=NOH)C(6)H(4)R(p), HRL (R = H, Me), has been synthesized with the objective of promoting the very rare mononuclear oximato-O coordination. The Onset of Tear Propagation at Slits in Stressed Uncoated Plain Weave Fabrics

Thomas A. Godfrey、J. N. Rossettos1999-12-01Journal of Applied Mechanics

A simple micromechanical model is developed to predict the onset of tear propagation at slit-like damage sites (i.e., a series of consecutive aligned yarn breaks) in biaxially stressed plain weave fabrics under increasing loading. A crucial aspect of the model is the treatment of the frictional slip of yarns near the…
