Photochromic molecules are part of a large class of materials in which light stimulus not only induces a color variation but also affects other physicochemical properties. In the paper, an asymmetrical photochromic diarylethene, 1-(2,4-dimethyl-3-thiazole)-2-[2-methyl-5-(10-phenanthrenyl)-3-thienyPerfluorocyclopentene…
Porous hollow hydroxyapatite (HA) microspheres were synthesized by Chemical Precipitation process using Ca (NO3)2·4H2O and (NH4)3PO4·3H2O as reagents and the CAPB as organic template. With increasing the amount of CAPB, the morphology of HA varies from irregular floccule to the rod form the spherical prototype and the…
There are two methods for earthquake engineering as an application of acoustic metamaterials. One is the traditional cloaking method that makes the seismic wave deflect the building to be protected. The other is the artificial shadow zone method that makes the seismic wave disappear by attenuation. We will explain the…
This paper provides a transmission line (TL) model for the propagation of electric signals along graphene nanoribbon and carbon nanotubes interconnects in the sub-terahertz frequency range. The electrical parameters are written in terms of classical terms and quantum ones. The peculiar behavior of these parameters as…
The ray tracing simulations of x-ray spectra for a compact six-crystal Johann/Johansson diffraction spectrometer covering a wide photon energy range (70 eV–15 keV), i.e. from the extended ultraviolet to the hard x-ray region, are discussed in the context of x-ray experiments at an electron beam ion source facility. In…
A kind of Cholesteric Liquid Crystal was prepared by mixing CB15 with Nematic Liquid Crystal 1717. The influence of CB15 content on the CLC texture, pitch length and thermal optical properties were investigated. The results indicated that the CB15 content affected significantly the CLC texture and the content in the r…
Quarter waveplates (QWPs) at upper terahertz range are demonstrated based on form birefringence of silicon grating. With depth of 15.5 and 8.4 μm, the gratings act as QWPs at 4.9 and 9.5 THz, respectively. The QWP is also successfully used to measure the state of polarization in a polarimetric system.
As the efficiency of thermoelectric generators increases with growing temperature difference, new contact materials on the hot side of the device are needed to replace soldering techniques. In this paper titanium disilicide (TiSi2) is introduced as thermally stable interconnect of p- and n-type legs of thermoelectric…
Hydrogen bonded (H-bonded) liquids can be considered as mediums that have nanosized heterogeneities. Previously, it was shown that the light scattering by acoustic phonons is accompanied by fluctuations of intensity of light with power spectral density () that reflects the phonon energy fluctuations. In this work fluc…
The consequences of near surface materials properties and residual stress states produced by specific manufacturing operations on damage evolution during corrosion fatigue of the Al-base alloys AA359.0 (German grade G-AlSi9Cu3) and AA6060 (German grade AlMgSi0.5) were systematically investigated. Specimens were proces…
In this paper, we investigate the resonant frequencies of split ring resonator metamaterials based on new plasmonic materials, to identify possible alternatives to gold and silver for high-frequency applications. Specifically, we show how the resonances of the new plasmonic SRR can be tuned by changing the permittivit…
Manganese and cerium based catalysts with different Mn/Ce molar ratios prepared by impregnation method for ethyl acetate oxidation. The activity tests of the samples were performed in a fixed-bed reactor. The effect of gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) and ethyl acetate concentration on the catalytic activity of the ca…
In this paper, green ceramic tapes are joined together by adhesive based lamination technique. The effects of adhesive concentration, pressure on the lamination and sintering temperature on the laminate are mainly discussed. The parameters are also optimized. It was shown that the effect of adhesive concentration and…
To investigate the effects of the metallurgical route on the defects in mc-Si, various metallurgical routes were conducted. Dislocation formation and the resistivity of the mc-Si were also studied. The results showed that high inhomogeneity in dislocation distribution within individual grains and paralleled tacking fa…
A novel hydrogen storage material Mg2Ni has been studied by the first-principle methods based on plane-wave pseudopotential theory. The corresponding electronic structure of hydrogen storage materials, Mg2Ni, Mg12Ni5M1(M = Mn and Cu), and their hydride have also been investigated. The enthalpy of hydrogenation reactio…
An annular slot pair particle loaded by a transistor is introduced to enhance the transparency of gyrotropic magnet-less non-reciprocal metamaterial (MNMs). Previously reported MNMs support only one gyrotropic mode, and therefore suffer from partial opacity because at least two gyrotropic modes are required to cancel…
Equivalent circuit model is an effective tool for analysis and design of metamaterials. This paper describes circuit modeling of external coupling which consists of excitation by external field and radiation. Using the structure of wired metallic spheres, we show a theoretical method for modeling the external coupling…
The physical-mechanical of properties of biocompatible calcium phosphate coatings deposited onto titanium and silicon substrates from erosion materials, which are generated by irradiating hydroxyapatite (synthetic and natural) targets by means of the high-power pulsed ion beam of a Temp-4 accelerator, are investigated…
The heat treatment was carried out to modify the aramid fibers, and the effect of tension on the mechanical properties and structure was investigated through Fiber Strength Equipment, viscosity, XRD and SEM . The results show that fibers, strength slightly decrease, but modulus increase significantly according to the i…
