Ab Initio Time-Domain Study of Phonon-Assisted Relaxation of Charge Carriers in a PbSe Quantum Dot

Svetlana Kilina、Colleen F. Craig、Dmitri S. Kilin 等 4 位作者2007-03-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry C

The phonon-induced relaxation dynamics of charge carriers in a PbSe quantum dot is studied for the first time by ab initio density functional theory in the time-domain. The picosecond time scale of the relaxation and the absence of the phonon bottleneck are rationalized by relatively high electron and hole state densi…

Photoluminescence and lasing from deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) thin films doped with sulforhodamine

Zheyin Yu、W. Li、Joshua A. Hagen 等 7 位作者2007-03-01Applied Optics

Thin solid films of salmon deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) have been fabricated by treatment with a surfactant and used as host for the laser dye sulforhodamine (SRh). The DNA films have an absorption peak at approximately 260 nm owing to absorption by the nitrogenous aromatic bases. The SRh molecules in the DNA films hav…

Metastable Liquid Clusters in Super- and Undersaturated Protein Solutions

Olga Gliko、Weichun Pan、Panagiotis Katsonis 等 7 位作者2007-03-01The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

Dense liquid phases, metastable with respect to a solid phase, but stable with respect to the solution, have been known to form in solutions of proteins and small-molecule substances. Here, with the protein lumazine synthase as a test system, using dynamic and static light scattering and atomic force microscopy, we de…
