Patrick Feng、Christopher C. Beedle、Wolfgang Wernsdorfer 等 7 位作者2007-09-07Inorganic Chemistry

Two new heterometallic cubane molecules have been synthesized. High-frequency electron paramagnetic resonance and magnetization measurements indicate that [Mn(3)Ni(hmp)(3)O(N(3))(3)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(3)] (1) displays a well-isolated S = 5 ground state (DeltaE > 120 K), with g = 2.0, D = -0.23 cm(-1), and ferromagnetic Mn-…

Mixed valency in polynuclear Mn II /Mn III , Mn III /Mn IV and Mn II /Mn III /Mn IV clusters: a foundation for high-spin molecules and single-molecule magnets

Theocharis C. Stamatatos、George Christou2007-09-07Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A Mathematical Physical and Engineering Sciences

Mixed-valent Mn/O dinuclear and polynuclear molecular compounds containing MnIII are almost without exception trapped valence. Large differences between the strengths of the exchange interactions within MnIIMnIII, MnIIIMnIII and MnIIIMnIV pairs lead to situations where MnIIIMnIV interactions, the strongest of the thre…

Reaction between CdX2 and 1-alkyl-2-(phenylazo)imidazole (RaaiR') has isolated complexes of composition Cd(RaaiR')2X2 in MeOH or MeCN. Crystallization of Cd(RaaiR')2I2 from N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) has separated [Cd(RaaiR')I2.DMF], while Cd(RaaiR')2X2 (X = Cl and Br) remains unchanged in its composition upon crysta…

Multi-scale Analysis of MEMS Sensors Subject to Drop Impacts

Stefano Mariani、Aldo Ghisi、Alberto Corigliano 等 4 位作者2007-09-07Sensors

The effect of accidental drops on MEMS sensors are examined within the frame-work of a multi-scale finite element approach. With specific reference to a polysilicon MEMSaccelerometer supported by a naked die, the analysis is decoupled into macro-scale (at dielength-scale) and meso-scale (at MEMS length-scale) simulati…

Chemically Assisted Directed Assembly of Carbon Nanotubes for the Fabrication of Large-Scale Device Arrays

George S. Tulevski、J. B. Hannon、Ali Afzali 等 6 位作者2007-09-07Journal of the American Chemical Society

We report the directed assembly of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) at lithographically defined positions on gate oxide surfaces, allowing for the high yield ( approximately 90%) and parallel fabrication of SWCNT device arrays. SWCNTs were first chemically functionalized through diazonium chemistry with a hydro…

Diffusion and Relaxation Dynamics in Cluster Crystals

Angel J. Moreno、Christos N. Likos2007-09-07Physical Review Letters

For a large class of fluids exhibiting ultrasoft bounded pair potentials, particles form crystals consisting of clusters located in the lattice sites, with a density-independent lattice constant. Here we present an investigation on the dynamic features of a representative example of this class. It is found that partic…

Single-Gaps-Wave Superconductivity near the Charge-Density-Wave Quantum Critical Point inCuxTiSe2

S. Y. Li、Gang Wu、Xianhui Chen 等 4 位作者2007-09-07Physical Review Letters

The in-plane thermal conductivity kappa of the layered superconductor CuxTiSe2 was measured down to temperatures as low as Tc/40, at x=0.06 near where the charge-density-wave order vanishes. The absence of a residual linear term at T-->0 is strong evidence for conventional s-wave superconductivity in this system. This…

Optical switches and triggers for the manipulation of ion channels and pores

Pau Gorostiza、Ehud Y. Isacoff2007-09-07Molecular BioSystems

Like fluorescence sensing techniques, methods to manipulate proteins with light have produced great advances in recent years. Ion channels have been one of the principal protein targets of photoswitched manipulation. In combination with fluorescence detection of cell signaling, this has enabled non-invasive, all-optic…

Electronic phase separation and other novel phenomena and properties exhibited by mixed-valent rare-earth manganites and related materials

Vijay B. Shenoy、C. N. R. Rao2007-09-07Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A Mathematical Physical and Engineering Sciences

Transition metal oxides, such as the mixed-valent rare-earth manganites Ln(1-x)AxMnO3 (Ln, rare-earth ion, and A, alkaline-earth ion), show a variety of electronic orders with spatially correlated charge, spin and orbital arrangements, which in turn give rise to many fascinating phenomena and properties. These materia…

Nonequilibrium Molecular Dynamics Calculation of the Thermal Conductivity of Amorphous Polyamide-6,6

Enrico Lussetti、Takamichi Terao、Florian Müller‐Plathe2007-09-07The Journal of Physical Chemistry B

The thermal conductivity of the amorphous phase of polyamide-6,6 is investigated by nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. Two different algorithms are used, reverse nonequilibrium molecular dynamics and the dual-thermostat method. Particular attention is paid to the force field used. Four different models are…
